Dear Writers,
This concise 10-minute post holds unique value, as I dedicated over two weeks to meticulously reviewing, weeding writers who left the platform, and compiling 208 stories of great writers wearing my designer hat and shaping them into a sustainable reference source.
Therefore, I kindly urge you to bookmark or save this story, for it contains valuable information from our writers spanning from 2020 to 2023. As you’re likely aware, older articles tend to get buried and go unnoticed by many readers. I aim to enhance their visibility by curating and amplifying their significance.
First, let me give you a quick background. Over a month ago, I approached Dr Mehmet Yildiz, the owner and chief editor of Illumination Integrated Publications on Medium, to offer my assistance in lightening his workload. He shared a concern on Slack: Our readers found accessing the curated writer bios challenging, which had become quite a laborious task.
Given the guidance and support he generously gave me over the past 20 months, I readily agreed to help. I dedicated two weeks of my free time to brainstorming and gathering writer bios from various sources compiled by ILLUMINATION, ILLUMINATION-Curators, and ILLUMINATION Amplifiers.
Eventually, I devised a solution that Dr. Yildiz found excellent, promising to make stories shorter and more accessible. I genuinely hope our readers and contributing writers will benefit from this improvement, lowering the previously 60-minute collections to 8 minutes of reading time, which makes it more manageable for readers. I tested it and it upload in seconds.
I will also utilize this editorial tool to notify the new writers I bring into our publications, providing them with an opportunity to peruse these biographies. In essence, I aim to achieve multiple objectives with a single effort. I link their profiles at the end of this post so that you can follow them and explore their stories.
The joy these bios brought to our readers, editors, and fellow writers led us to curate them with our volunteer editors. These beautifully penned stories from writers’ hearts and souls add a delightful touch to our publications, making readers feel like they are conversing with the author behind the biography.
Some bios were moved from their original sources but remain accessible to readers. We genuinely don’t mind where writers choose to host their stories. Their happiness is our joy and goal. Dr Yildiz is flexible for writers to add or remove their stories when they need and want.
As writer bios are valuable promotion tools, we highly recommend that all writers submit a biography to Illumination publications. Many writers have already done so. This serves as a form of cross-pollination within our writing community.
Dr Yildiz has shared six compelling reasons why every writer should create a bio on Medium. We anticipate more bios in the near future, and I will continue to add them to this collection as my way of giving back to our wonderful community.
You can contact me on Illumination’s Slack workspace if your writer bio is missing or you want to add a new one. I will also promote these bios on my website, Substack, my Quora Space, LinkedIn, Twitter, Reddit, and Pinterest to create more visibility for them.
Although Dr. Yildiz initially curated these bios in 2020, he is currently occupied with overseeing multiple publications, orchestrating the activities of 135 dedicated volunteer editors, and assisting in orchestrating more than 22,500 writers on Medium, delighting thousands of readers.
To ease his editorial workload, I will continue to maintain this collection and the list, which my followers can easily find.
