Short intro: Willem-Jan Ageling

I love to write. And I wish to grow in my writing.

When I started, almost 5 years ago, I aimed to help people to raise their understanding. The topics that interested me were mainly Agile Software Development and Scrum. I felt that I couldn’t find the answers to my questions on the Internet. So I figured them out myself and wrote about it.

Late 2017 I found Medium and decided to use this publishing platform. I started to focus more and more on Scrum. And I noticed articles from another Dutch writer, Sjoerd Nijland. He also helped people to understand what Scrum is really about. May 2018, never having met, we decided to start our publication platform Serious Scrum.

Two years later, Serious Scrum is an established name with 7780 followers on Medium, 3000 people in our Slack community and dozens of writers. As editors we have our work cut out for us. We curate each and every article thoroughly because we wish to publish quality articles that are true to Scrum. I am thankful for everything that Serious Scrum has brought me and what’s in store in the future.

I have been writing two articles per week on average for two years. All of these discuss Scrum. While I am keen to continue with this, I also wish to explore. I wish to write about other topics too. Heck, I want to write about anything that pops in my mind. Then Stacey Christiansen posted about Illumination on our Serious Scrum Slack.

Now I am an Illumination writer too. I can’t wait to see what this publication has in store for the world. I hope that my experience with Serious Scrum can be of value for Illumination too.
