Self Introduction to Illumination fraternity

It seemed a bit strange to read Dr Mehmet Yildiz article inviting self- introduction to Illumination writers. Because ‘introduce yourself’ is quite a formal way, used to be the initial start of an interview. But thought, a learned man of Dr. Mehmet’s stature and standing could never ask it without a specific purpose.

I dug deeper into the purpose of the Writer’s Introduction. Peeping through my memory lanes, I remembered the days when I was studying English literature at the University.

We used to study writer’s/poet’s family background and contemporary history and culture with a view to understand his work in a better way in the contemporary context.

I was born in a middle class, Hindu- Brahmin family in India, My father was working with the government in the State Intelligence Bureau. He was a learned man with the command over five languages- English, Hindi, Sanskrit, Arabic and Urdu. He had translated one ancient literature book in Sanskrit into Arabic, and English.

My father was a man of high moral character and uncompromising self- respect. He resigned from his job and established him as self- employed. My family faced a financial crisis during my childhood.

My mother was literate and a noble Hindu conservative lady. I was more attached to my father than the mother.

My early education was not regular as I was reluctant to go to school leaving my father. From seventh grade, I started my regular studies till Master’s Degree.

After getting a Master’s Degree in English Literature, I was aspiring to become a Bureaucrat but could not qualify Indian Administrative Services in my first attempt. Meanwhile, I fell in love and got married.

Left with no other option except to settle in a career joined as a post- graduate teacher. Thereafter I completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.

Having taught senior school for a decade, I qualified for the Principalship and worked as Principal for fifteen years in three schools. I had conducted scores of teachers’ training programs.

I had presented my paper on Transformational Pedagogy in the International Conference. Several articles on Innovative Teaching Practices, Multi sensory teaching Approach and Academic Administration had been published in many educational magazines from time to time.

Since school time, I enjoy both prose and poetry with deep appreciation. Although I taught literature for several years I could not give sufficient time to creative writing. Time to time, I wrote, but my passion remained passive.

Two years before I have started my own Educational Consultancy Services as Director. Since then I am able to spare time to pursue my passion for writing. I am eager to learn every subject from politics to psychology, from Astronomy to Cryogenics at least to have a little exposure better than a layman but always stay cautious that a little knowledge must not turn to be dangerous.

Challenges in life have strengthened my will- power and self- confidence. By nature, I am an Empath. I feel other’s circumstances putting myself in their place.

My conviction is that society can change if its individual unit begins to change one by one. I love to share what I feel and how I infer. I always keep on exploring the most suitable way to impress the hearts of the people for positive change.

I never leave an opportunity to learn from the people the way they think and react. When I was the teacher I used to learn from the students every day with a view to understand them so that I could make them understand me.

I have joined the Medium platform two years back but remained dormant. A few months ago, my writing passion with wings has convinced me to permit a free passage.

With love and affection for our Illumination fraternity…..
