A Time For Reintroduction Of Myself And Few Updates

How writing made me adopt more creative hobbies

Three years of writing on Medium has made me a better thinker, a fast writer, and a content creator. Initially, I wrote poetry, but gradually, I started venturing into fiction, travel stories and nature posts. Poetry remains my primary focus, but writing fiction short stories gives me immense pleasure as I explore the unknown arenas of my imagination.

My real-life incidents are shared from my beloved cat’s perspective to add fun to the mundane. Tributes, gratitude, review posts and participating in prompt challenges of some publications are also a part of my writing routine.

While contributing to a variety of topics, from gender, race, identity, love, loss, and trauma to life, I mostly write about my personal opinions and a few research articles. My writing does not deal with any self-help tips or views about success and absolutely nothing about reader engagement strategies.

My posts might disappoint those who want to dip their toes into oft-repeated unique formulas for achieving success on online platforms.

I have been very fortunate to collaborate with the Dancing Elephant Press for two books that got published this year.

I’m here for selfish reasons as writing, engaging with other writers, and reading enriches my life, motivates me, and certainly inspires me on what not to do.

Writing is therapeutic for me, and it’s a bonus if some of you read it with interest. It helps me to think deeply about certain aspects of life or let it go peacefully by writing about it. I love to challenge myself to write about new topics where my training as a historian hasn’t taken me.

I depend on the generosity of lots of publications like Illumination, Blue Insights, The Lark, Reciprocal, Lifeline, iPoetry, and Dancing Elephant Press. I don’t write for publications where I have to go through the perils of rejections and waiting times.

My interactions with all my readers are cordial and try my best to leave only positive responses. In order to avoid toxicity of any kind, I refrain from criticizing or indulging in negative feedback. I’m here to learn from the readers, writers, and editors rather than teaching anyone something specifically.

If people want to know about me and get inspired by my life experiences, then it’s great; if not, then also, I’m okay. I want to share whatever I feel, see, and think in a thought-provoking way or with little hints of humour.

Everyone has been super nice to me, and I’ve never dealt with any kind of criticism. If that happens in the future, I would be the first to redact to solve the issue.

Besides writing on Medium, I teach online, helping adults navigate their academic life from their last year of high school to completing their post-graduation theses. I guide students from all disciplines who need help in research, novel study, presentations, and thesis writing. On average, I would be reading various research articles (twenty to thirty) one to two novels, fine-tuning arguments, or editing a thesis in a month.

Medium provides me with a space to write about anything and everything I want without pressure, and it’s exhilarating. I get excited when a story idea comes to me in the middle of a teaching session, and I can’t wait to finish it; that’s why my writing schedule is erratic.

Apart from being an online creator, I spend considerable time oil painting and creating abstract designs. Nearly every inch of my apartment is full of canvases, and I intend to add more. I don’t want to put a monetary value on my paintings as they’re priceless to me.

Cooking with simple ingredients, using no preservatives, and making jams and sauces from scratch are also my favourite things to do. I save money by consuming less, not eating out, and buying fewer clothes, but I indulge in buying athleisure, books, and bags ❤️❤️.

Meditating and walking help me kickstart the day with a lot of energy dealing with online teaching issues with a smile. My evening activities are watching mysteries or thriller web series, or occasional movies, and singing songs for my plants. Weekends are dedicated to my children even they time; otherwise, Luke (my cat) and I cozied up with a book and cup of decaffeinated Earl Grey tea.
