Here’s Why the World Needs Passionate and Compassionate Leaders.

Every word we speak and write makes a tremendous impact on society. Writing and reading are leadership traits.

Leadership is less sexy than entrepreneurship. However, without gaining leadership skills, it is not possible to become an entrepreneur or a business person.

In my opinion, an essential characteristic of a leader is having compassion for others. When we put ourselves in the shoes of other people, circumstances and situations look different. Feeling the pain of suffering of millions of people is fuel to energize leaders globally.

The next important characteristic is passion. By creating vitality, leaders carry torches fueled by their minds, heart, and soul and shed light on darkness. Thought leadership is an example of inspiring, motivating, and empowering the public. True leaders obtain feedback and never fear negative criticism.

We can learn and gain leadership skills. However, practicing leadership requires courage to invent, commitment to manifestation, empathy, and compassion for people.

Leaders don’t necessarily have all answers, but they ask compelling questions to add clarity to issues. They inspire, motivate, and cross-pollinate. Here is a bold and innovative leadership example from Nevada that I featured earlier today.

Leadership is a skill that can be used in all walks of life and be transferred to any discipline. Scientists, technologists, lawmakers, politicians, artists, writers, and other professionals need leadership skills to serve their audience.

Leadership is a subject close to my heart. I believe leadership is in my DNA because I have been studying, researching, and practicing leadership by contributing to society. I have never had enough of this topic in my life.

I heavily researched technical leadership, which requires some technical knowledge and skills in addition to leadership capabilities. You can find a summary of my research in this article titled how to be an excellent technical leader.

You don’t have to be an extraordinary person to be a leader. Your vision and strategy to manifest the ideas you have is an excellent form of leadership. There are, of course, some exemplary leaders going above and beyond. You can recognize their traits as documented in a piece titled how to recognize distinguished leaders.

The other end of the spectrum is toxic leaders. There are also some charlatans trying to pretend to be leaders putting people in vulnerable situations. You can recognize their characteristics from this story titled six things real leaders don’t do.

I am grateful to meet thousands of writers and hundreds writing about leadership in my publications. These publications are like a leadership school, education center, or, more precisely, a leadership library.

Hundreds of writers have created thousands of leadership stories and contributed to giving an excellent reading experience on Medium. I featured some well-researched and high-quality stories that are distributed to the leadership topic on Medium.

In this post, I want to share with you stories that I reviewed and compiled from my reading list. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did. Related to leadership, I previously created three collections for business, entrepreneurship, and freelancing.

Business professionals, entrepreneurs, and freelancers show leadership from different angles. However, they all serve people using their leadership skills in their fields. Business people sell their products and services. Entrepreneurs create new businesses. Freelancers serve their clients by solving problems in specialized areas.

Writing and storytelling, similar to public speaking, is a leadership skill. Communicating and disseminating ideas to the public serves an essential role in society.

In this story, the writers I feature are leaders in their disciplines coming from different professional backgrounds with remarkable qualifications like advanced degrees and certifications.

If you want to be a top writer in leadership, you can study these articles and gain great ideas and new perspectives. Here is a simple guide to help you gain top writer status on Medium: how to be a top writer in three months on Medium.

In order to be a top writer in leadership, you need to tag your stories using this term. There are 172K stories contributed by 59K writers in the leadership tag.

screen capture by author from the leadership tag on Medium

If chosen by Medium, your leadership stories can also be distributed in multiple topics in the industry domain. So you need to use mentioned tags as they relate to your leadership content. For example, if your leadership story relate to design, you can add both leadership and design tags. This may increase the chance of distributing your story to multiple topics.

The most prolific leadership writer in my publications is Bill Abbate. Bill contributed hundreds of articles covering many aspects of leadership. He is a top writer and an experienced leader in his field. The second biggest contributor is Paul Myers MBA. Paul’s stories are well-researched, practical, and well-presented. And third is Randy Wolken, a prolific writer, and reader in leadership, inspiration, and self-improvement.

Conclusions

As you can see, we have many writers contributing to this topic. I only selected a single story per person from my reading list. It is only possible to include some writers in one story. Some of these writers have many more stories covering different aspects of leadership. I will share them in my upcoming posts.

I hope you enjoyed reading these great stories. In addition to reading these stories, I also recommend connecting with these writers and developing your relationship with those who resonate with you.

Many writers are shy to promote their content. There is nothing to be ashamed of about your art. You need to show up confidently and share your content with those who are interested. Please don’t hide your wisdom. It does not do any good to anyone.

For example, to guide our writers, I selected and collected my leadership articles in a sample story. So, I recommend all writers contributing to this topic to create a leadership collection and submit them to ILLUMINATION or ILLUMINATION-Curated.

I want to give you more visibility and share them with our leadership readers, who expect to read high-quality and engaging content from leaders.

Leadership is a broad topic. As leaders, we affect our families and friends. Furthermore, our communities, workplaces, countries, and overall society need our leadership. Leaders are the ones who bring people together and give them a path to follow.

A good leader is also a good follower. It is impossible to be a leader in every area. While we lead in some areas, we are followers in many other areas. Thus, following leaders is as important as leading people.

Thank you for reading my perspectives.
