Are Your Personal Conditional Terms Keeping You From Success?
Compromise is the name of the game for a win-win outcome

I’ll be glad to do that, but only if …
Yes, I plan on showing up, as long as …
You can count on my participation in the seminar, but only if I’m the keynote speaker …
Seemingly straightforward statements — until you realize there’s an underlying contingency in the person’s willingness to participate.
Self-imposed barriers and obstacles can quickly become roadblocks to success
And they could be the very reason you’re not achieving your goals.
Even worse, those who insist on framing their actions and objectives with self-serving terms and conditions typically find themselves playing an individual game — without a support team or a strong foundation of trust.
Because compromise is the name of the game.
Unfortunately, there are lots of folks who aren’t willing to budge from their steadfast mindset of retaining ultimate control — even if it means failure to reach their goals.
When interacting with others, we all want to come out a winner
Or, at the very least, achieve our priorities along the way. The good news is, even though your objectives may be different from those you’re negotiating with, there’s always the possibility of a win-win situation.
Fair warning: By insisting — bulldozing — your way through your lengthy list of wants and needs before considering any opportunity, there are likely very few who’ll stick around to work with you.
Even if you manage to check off everything on your agenda, it’s quite possible somewhere along the way — usually before you reach the finish line — the deal will go south.
What happens to the people you believed would support you and your plan?
They take a hike — because no one wants to support or be associated with an inflexible overlord.
Still plan on sticking to your guns, insisting everything has to be your way or you’re not interested?
More often than not, you’ll find the playground vacant of teammates.
And instead of making progress, in no time at all you’ll be all alone, kicking empty cans down the street.
