I Read 100+ Boosted Stories and Here’s What I Learned
Featuring boosted stories I reviewed, edited, and read on ILLUMINATION publications and the common patterns identified in them

Recently, I’ve heard a lot about boosting, as many writers keep discussing it. Although none of my stories have been boosted yet, I’ve participated in assessing and editing stories as part of my editorial role in ILLUMINATION-Curated. Now, as an avid reader, I’ve gained insights that I want to briefly share in this story.
Some of my Friends of Medium mentioned that they loved boosted stories amplified by Aiden (Illumination Gaming) and ILLUMINATION-Curators. I agree with them as I enjoy them too. I believe all of them deserve a boost. They provided me with valuable insights while entertaining and stimulating my aging brain and hungry mind.
In these boosted stories, I noticed several key patterns that make them stand out. In presentation, their work is impressive, standing out and leaving a mark on editors, nominators, curators, and readers like me.
First off, their introductions are compelling, immediately grabbing the reader’s attention from the get-go.
Each story is well-structured, making it easy to follow along. They cover relevant topics that resonate with readers, drawing from personal experiences and expertise to add depth.
What’s more, their narratives are backed by credible sources, lending authority to their writing. They write with the reader in mind, empathizing and engaging throughout.
Offering a unique perspective, they bring fresh insights to familiar subjects, while also employing logical segmentation for seamless reading.
With balanced emotion and vivid sensory descriptions, their stories leave a lasting emotional and mental impact. They craft logical and empathetic arguments, effectively using subtlety and nuance to add depth.
Characters are developed with depth and complexity, often embodying symbolism and metaphors that enrich the narrative.
They demonstrate variance in tone, keep readers on their toes with surprising twists, and leave them with resonant endings that linger in the mind.
When I asked Dr Yildiz what criteria he uses when writing and editing his stories as well as reviewing stories of other writers, he shared these questions with me:
1 — Is my story impactful and constructive?
2 — Is my story original?
3 — Do I write from relevant experience?
4 — Is my story well-crafted?
5 — Does my story feel memorable?
He explained these points in a recent interview.
In addition, as a giveback activity, he wrote an educative story guiding writers to enhance the boost chance on Medium.
To increase the chance of boosting writers also need to understand and follow submission guidelines.

If you have boosted stories not listed here and enjoyed from other readers please drop a line in comments and I will read and amplify them in my collections. I love sharing.
To make sharing easier I also compiled them in a single list. I link it here so you may share it on your socials, stories, or platforms.
After publishing the list it looks like it glitched showing only 26 out of 100+. I am 100% sure for adding all of them in the above list but they don’t show. However, they show on my generic reading list, which does not make any sense. So you may share the following list even better to give more options to readers.
You may also check my curated collections from ILLUMINATION publications as a giveback activity to the community.
