Details About Overwatch 2’s Battle Pass Has Been Revealed
Players can rank up their battle pass by either just playing and earning XP or by completing specific seasonal challenges.

Much like other modern-day shooter games such as Fortnite, Overwatch 2 will be a seasonally based game that includes a battle pass.
A battle pass rewards players for playing the game with certain themed items every season (9 weeks).
Players can rank up their battle pass by either just playing and earning XP or by completing specific seasonal challenges.
These challenges can include things like getting a certain number of kills with a specific hero or on a particular map.
This new seasonal system also suggests either a new hero or map after every seasonal rotation. It also suggests an overall theme change alongside the new content.
Much like certain other games, Overwatch 2 will have a free battle pass alongside a premium option.
Players will unlock tiers of the premium battle pass at the same rate as the free one.
For the free battle pass, every tier will not come with a reward. For example, tier 51 will be a free reward, while tiers 52, 53, and 54 will be premium, but then tier 55 will be free again.
Both the free and premium battle passes will reward players with items such as skins, emotes, weapon charms, and other interesting items.
The newest heroes being added in Season 1 Overwatch 2 will only be obtainable via the free battle pass.
This is good because it ensures players will have to earn the new hero but also not have to pay for it by buying the premium battle pass.
The new heroes will only be available after tier 55 of the free battle pass.
So, needless to say, players will have to put some effort into the game to unlock these new heroes.
Here’s a list of some items which will be available via the free battle pass in Season 1:
New support hero Kiriko
2 Weapon Charms
2 Legendary Skins
2 Souvenirs
1 Highlight Intro
15 Additional Unique Items.
The premium battle pass will cost players 1000 in-game currency (Overwatch coins).
Overwatch coins can be obtained by completing challenges or outright buying them via micro transactions.
1000 Overwatch coins equate to around $10.
So technically, players can obtain the battle pass for free by doing weekly or seasonal challenges.
Although, from my experience in other games like this, it will likely take a while and be more worthwhile to just pay the 10 dollars.
The premium battle pass will feature over 80 liters in addition to the free tiers.
Additionally, players who purchase the premium battle pass will gain access to the new heroes instantly.
Players will also gain a 15% XP boost alongside a bunch of interesting items via the battle pass.
Here’s a list of items obtainable via the premium battle pass in season 1:
Immediate access to new hero Kiriko
15% XP Boost
1 Mythic Skin
5 Legendary Skins
2 Epic Skins
3 Play of the Game Intros.
4 Weapon Charms
3 Emotes
3 Souvenirs
6 Poses
If players decide to purchase the premium battle pass halfway through or at the end of a season, all previously earned tiers will automatically be unlocked.
So if a player reaches tier 80 and then decides to purchase the battle pass, that player will immediately obtain every single reward below tier 80.
This new battle pass system unlocking new heroes brings up a question.
What if I miss out on the new heroes if I don’t play the game enough?
Well, I was thinking this myself, but here’s the answer.
If you don’t have enough time to reach tier 55 to obtain the new heroes, you can simply wait until the next season and unlock the new hero by completing a particular challenge.
Or alternatively, the new heroes can be purchased via the item shop the following season.
Overwatch 2 is a short while away, with its release on the 4th of next month.
