Game Launchers and Storefronts

As a writer in gaming, one of my goals is to educate new gamers by giving them fundamental information about exciting games, tools, and gaming platforms.

In this post, my goal is to introduce game launchers or storefronts to new gamers as I see them necessary tools for professional gaming.

A game launcher or storefront is the primary method of downloading and playing games on the PC platform. They make gamers’ lives easier.

Unlike game consoles, the only way to download games is through the inbuilt game store.

For example, on Playstation, we can only download games through the built-in Playstation store or use a disk. It is the same for Xbox and Nintendo consoles.

We have the Microsoft Store on PC, but not many triple games are included.

So the only way to play most games is to download a third-party launcher or storefront to purchase whichever games you want.

Popular Game Launchers and Storefronts

Let me introduce the most popular ones with their website links.

Steam (https://store.steampowered.com/about/)

Epic Games Store (https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/download)

UPlay (https://ubisoftconnect.com/en-US/)

Origin (https://www.origin.com/aus/en-us/store/download)

Battle.net (https://www.blizzard.com/en-us/apps/battle.net/desktop)

I use all the above launchers for various types of games.

Most game developers stick to specific launchers and storefronts to sell their games. Therefore, if you want to play different games, you will have to download various storefronts.

Three of my most played games all use different launchers.

For example, Rocket League uses the Epic Games store. New World uses Steam. And Forza Horizon uses Microsoft store.

If you think this is a lot of hassle to keep track of, you wouldn’t be alone in that opinion.

Third-Party Custom Game Launchers

Many gamers use third-party custom game launchers to organize all their games into one application.

Here are some famous examples with links to their websites.

GOG Galaxy (https://www.gog.com/galaxy)

Razer Cortex (https://www.razer.com/au-en/cortex)

LaunchBox (https://www.launchbox-app.com)

PlayNite (https://playnite.link)

I use GOG Galaxy since I can keep track of games on different platforms such as Playstation and Xbox.

With the help of these launchers, it has made my life a lot easier.

Final Words

In conclusion, game launchers and storefronts are necessary for PC gaming.

There are various ways to keep track of every launcher you have to use. In addition, there is a lot of excellent software on the market to make gamers’ life easier.

I hope you try them and benefit from them to take your gaming to the next level.

Thank you for reading my story. I wish you a prosperous life. Happy gaming!
