The Newest Overwatch 2 Map Has Been Revealed
There exists a robot that sits in the middle of the map at the beginning of the round.

In one of my recent articles, I talked about the newest hero being added to Overwatch 2 named Kiriko. Well, in addition to this new hero, Blizzard has just revealed Overwatch 2’s new map called Esperança.
You may be able to tell from the name. This new map will be set in Portugal. Esperança will be the newest push mode map which will apparently have many flanking opportunities.
Overwatch 2’s art director Dion Rodgers stated that the map would feature a winding path with inclines and declines on both sides.
Although this map will have a very windy path, players will not have to endure the long quiet walk back to the battlefield after they have been killed.
This is due to the presence of multiple openings for player mobility. For those who may not be familiar with the push mode, here’s a brief explanation.
In this game mode, there exists a robot that sits in the middle of the map at the beginning of the round.
Teams must push the robot down a specific path towards their opponent’s side in order to win the round.
The multiple openings within the map allow for various flanking opportunities alongside the push game mode.
According to Dion Rodgers, Esperança will be very symmetrical so that the gameplay is very fair.
Although the layout and paths will be almost identical on either side, there will be slight differences on either side.
These differences include colors and textures of specific structures so that players don’t get confused about which side they are on.
Rodgers stated that their team put a lot of effort into ensuring this new map was as authentic as possible.
Apparently, their lead environmental artist, as well as a bunch of staff members, are from Portugal.
This is why an accurate portrayal of the map was very important to them.
As well as doing a bunch of research online, the team reportedly studied vacation photos and books relating to Portugal in order to accurately create the map.
Blizzard even went as far as sending a sound team to Portugal in order to capture location-accurate ambient sounds to be implemented into the map.
Reportedly, one of the team members’ wives “got a tear in her eye” due to the map’s accuracy and authenticity.
The team didn’t specifically say whether or not there would be any easter eggs hidden in this map but honestly, I believe there will be.
There is still a bunch more Overwatch 2-related news to be shared, which I will cover in the next couple of days.
Until then, have a good one, and thank you for reading.
