Playstation 5: There’s Demand But No Supply.
It’s still very difficult to get your hands on a Playstation 5
Brief Introduction to Playstation
Let me give a short introduction if you don’t know what a Playstation 5 is.
The Playstation is a gaming console created by Sony. It is Sony’s next-generation console to compete with the Xbox Series X.
Not only does it have a new and modern look, but it also has a bunch more graphical power plus some new technology, specifically in the controller.
I was really excited to play with the heavily improved controller when I received my unit.
I was especially excited to play the new Spider-Man: Miles Morales game at 60 fps and in 4K resolution. It was a very high upgrade compared to my Playstation 4.
Here is the Concern.
The Playstation was announced back in 2019.
It was set to release on the 12th of November 2020 in Australia, Japan, New Zealand, North America, and South Korea.
The worldwide release was a week later. I pre-ordered the Playstation 5 as soon as it was announced.
I was expecting it to be delivered a short time after release. But to my surprise, it took way longer than expected.
It was already well known that due to Covid, supply would be lower than expected, and it would take a few people a little longer to get their hands on one.
But most people weren’t expecting this level of delay. It took a little over six months to get my one, even though I pre-ordered it.
Around Q1 of 2021, Playstation announced from now on that they’d be manufacturing and distributing a slightly different version of the Playstation 5.
They did this because it worked out to be a cheaper manufacturing cost, which would allow them to manufacture more units.
Skipping ahead to the present day, it’s still very difficult to get your hands on a Playstation 5. Most of my friends still weren’t able to acquire one, mainly because they didn’t pre-order it.
Someone told me allegedly that Playstation has a bunch of Playstation 5s stored to be released all at once so that they never sell out again.
In my opinion, this is a poor decision because they’re just making people wait for no reason.
It’s been almost two years since it was released, and most people still can’t get one. We have no idea why.
Final Words.
Even though it’s been almost two years since the release of the Playstation 5, it’s still very difficult to get our hands on one.
It’s sold out everywhere and disappointing gamers.
There is demand but no supply which concerns the customers.
I’m grateful I pre-ordered mine and was able to get one.
