Let’s Talk About Gaming Simulators Today.
Although it took me a while to figure out how to operate a virtual plane, I crashed it many times, which my friends found funny.
My Experience with Gaming Simulators
I love gaming simulator. They can be fun for gamers.
When I say gaming simulator, I’m talking about gaming computers or consoles set up to simulate real-world activities.
An example of this can be a racing simulator or a flight simulator. Let me quickly introduce how they work.
In terms of a racing simulator, many racing sim games mimic real-world driving physics. These games include Assetto Corsa, Project Cars, Gran Turismo, iRacing, and more.
Many companies manufacture simulator racing wheels in various price ranges. The most popular include: Logitech, Fanatec, Thrustmaster, and Ascher Racing.
These racing wheels can be bought with pedals, a shifter, and in some cases, an e-brake.
Generally, you can just mount these to your desk or a table in front of your monitor or TV. But you can buy a wheel stand which allows you to add a racing seat to the configuration.
As you can imagine, all of these components together will create a very immersive racing experience.
In addition, most sim racing games are VR (Virtual Reality) compatible, which can be a very realistic and fun experience.
I personally don’t have a VR headset myself, but I tried one of my friends, and it was a mesmerizing experience.
The same can be said about flight simulators. Flight sim games that mimic real-world plane physics include Microsoft Flight Simulator.
Companies who manufacture flight sim joysticks include: Logitech, Thrustmaster, and FR-Tec
These joysticks can be bought with separate throttle controls. Generally, you can mount these controls to your desk or a table.
But just like the racing sim components, you can buy a joystick stand that can also hold a pilot’s chair. Again similar to racing sims, most flight sim games are VR compatible.
The same friend with a racing sim setup also uses it for a flight sim. The flight sim was an exciting experience in conjunction with a VR headset.
Although it took me a while to actually figure out how to operate a virtual plane, I crashed it many times, which my friend found very funny.
There is also a unique type of simulation which I don’t have any physical experience with.
There is this product called the Omni One VR Treadmill. Essentially it’s a slippery surface with some special shoes and controllers.
The player wears the designated shoes and straps themselves into the device. This way, you can walk or run in the virtual world by walking or running in real life.
The device can measure your speed and direction and allow you to control your in-game character with physical movements.
The controllers allow us to operate in-game items such as guns. As the name suggests, this device’s primary purpose is to be used with VR.
Usually, these gaming simulator configurations are used by average consumers to enhance their gaming experience.
I have a racing wheel that I use to participate in online competitive racing on Project Cars and Gran Turismo. I also use it for drifting with my friends, mainly on Assetto Corsa.
But these configurations can be and are used for training purposes. for example, soon-to-be pilots use flight simulators to get a feel for the controls of an airplane before their first flight.
Racing simulators are also often used by F1 and other motorsport drivers to practice in a safe and affordable environment.
Final Words.
Not only are gaming simulators appealing to the average consumer, but also to individuals in need of training in a safe environment.
Racing and flight simulators have proved to be very useful for pilots and motorsports drivers.
But also, they can be very affordable for consumers who just want to heighten their gaming experience.
These simulator configurations are a very cool way to experience real-world activities without leaving your house or spending big bucks.
I’m delighted now I can drive a Lamborghini on my simulator setup without leaving my house.
