We are delighted to add your Medium account to our publications as new contributors. Thank you for joining ILLUMINATION Integrated Publications supporting more than 12,500 writers on Medium.
The purpose of this onboarding pack is to inform new writers joining our publications ILLUMINATION, ILLUMINATION-Curated, ILLUMINATION Book chapters, Technology Hits, SYNERGY, ILLUMINATION’S MIRROR, and Readers Hope.
These publications operate on Medium and their capability is enhanced using a tool called Slack. Our chief editor, Dr Mehmet Yildiz, will invite you to the Slack workspace via the email addresses you registered to our writer application form. If you don’t receive the invitation from him, please leave a message on this article.
Like all our services, joining the Slack workspace is also optional and free. We want you to get benefit of this productive and free service. Using our Slack workspace, more than 9,700 members have meaningful interactions and easily access publications resources and editors. We have 76 volunteer editors spread across several geographies to support your inquiries. These editors are also writers like and they understand your writing needs empathetically.
Guidance for Publishing
We have multiple publications serving different requirements of writers trying to reach a broader audience on Medium. As our publications operate on Medium, all contributors must adhere to the policies and rules of this platform.
Before submitting your articles, please review publication guidelines and other valuable guidelines in our educative artifacts to the starter kit. You can find our roadmap for ILLUMINATION Integrated Publications.
You need pay attention to photos you add to your stories. For example, when you submit articles with copyright-free photos and cite them correctly, your stories can be published faster. Thus, please review the image handling policy before submitting your stories, if you are a new writer on Medium. Like other publications on Medium, we don’t accept stories with copyrighted images. It is against Medium rules and publication policy.
Our editors regularly check plagiarism and reject plagiarised content. When writers attempt plagiarism, we remove their accounts and content from our publications. Medium rules also penalise plagiarists. Plagiarism is an unacceptable crime. We clearly warn our contributors upfront due to dire consequences. We tolerate other mistakes and support you to correct procedural and writing errors however we do not tolerate plagiarism.
Your success is important to us. It gives joy and inspiration our editors. Therefore, we created writing challenges to boost your success. These challenges can be helpful for you get started quickly. You can also gain new followers and readers when you join challenges and writing prompts from publications or other writers. Here is our 100-day writing challenge. We also created a writing prompt to introduce yourself. Your readers (paid members) help you generate income on Medium. Your content is paid based on reading times of your stories. There are other metrics such as followers and claps that don’t matter as much as reading times. However, we know that followers matter for those who need to get 100 followers and meet requirement to join the Medium Partner Program. You can submit a few short-form stories to our publications. Currently we accept three short form stories per publication within 24 hours. Please review guidelines for creating short-form stories in this story: Short-Form Stories Not For Income But For Visibility. Despite some rumors, we know that becoming a top writer is helpful to earn more income on Medium. Top writer status might increase your chance of gaining more readers hence increasing your reading times. This story may guide you on How To Become A Top Writer In Three Months.
To re-iterate, the most important metric is reading time as it means income for writers on Medium. So, please pay attention to the needs and aspirations of your readers by serving them with focus. Publications are tools for writers to amplify their content. We created several publications appealing to different audiences.

We don’t put strong restrictions for these pubs apart from a few topics, such as porn, conspiracy theories, and defamation. Medium does not support to publish certain types of content so please check the platform rules. Our goal is not to censor content as long as stories meet Medium policies.
We designed ILLUMINATION-Curated for experienced and accomplished writers. Senior editors specifically select the contributors for this publication using stringent criteria. Onboarding Pack for New Contributors
Our publications support writers at all levels including aspiring, experienced, accomplished, and influential . We don’t allow discrimination of our writers. All types of contributors are equally important to us. We don’t tolerate toxic behaviour against aspiring writers who want to find their voice. We remove online bullies and report to Medium. However, we always giving and receiving feedback within the platform policies.
Our editors encourage aspiring writers to find their voice in a safe and supportive environment so that they can gain experience quickly. Writers start from somewhere, learn gradually, and build skills. Some writers learn faster and some learn slower. It is their choice.
You can publish both draft and self-publish articles in our publications. However, we hihgly recommend draft submissions to gain a better exposure from the publication readers. At the end, it is your choice.
If you have curated articles from closed publications such as PSILY or Ascent, you are welcome to transfer them to ILLUMINATION-Curated. We are keen to give a home for previously distributed stories. Contributors joined us from PSILY transferred their stories and they gained new readers especially on ILLUMINATION-Curated. If you have a good track record on having distributed articles on Medium, please inform us via private notes or Slack so that we add you to ILLUMINATION-Curated. It is for advanced writers.
Our main goal is to contribute to a diverse and inclusive writing and reading community on Medium. All Medium members are welcome to join our journey. We support various levels of writers by cross-pollinating them to get the best out of our pubs.
Our contributors are not exclusive to our pubs. As a contributor, you can join and contribute to other publications. We support your writing and marketing goals. You may also remove your articles when you need. We don’t mind if you leave our publications. No permission is required as there is no obligation from our end. The only requirement is to follow Medium rules if you want your stories to be published on our pubs.
If you are interested in establishing your own publications, we might help you promote them. For example, Dr Mehmet Yildiz helped several writers to start their publications and promoted them in his circles. Some of those publications has become on Medium and they still collaborate with your publication. We don’t compete with other publications, we collaborate with them.

One of the common questions is how to add articles to publications. It is easy and quick. To submit your draft or self-published stories to our publications you can click on the three (…) dots in the edit mode placed on the top right part of your screen.
You will be prompted for the publications listing them when you click on the submit button. You can choose the publication and click on the submit button. When your story is submitted to our publications, editors in duty will review it. If the story meets Medium rules and publication guidelines, the editor will publish it.
If you don’t see our pubs in the list, we might need to add your account again. Sometimes glitches happen. In this case, please leave a message on this post. Please remember, we don’t ignore any ethical writer on Medium. Our doors are open to all members.
