Dear new writers,

Upon your request, your Medium account was added to our relevant publications. Welcome to ILLUMINATION Integrated Publications on Medium! Thank you for joining our exciting journey.

As a writer for you, integrated means that you can easily re-purpose your content among our publications. You can also network and collaborate with writers of these publications. From management perspective, we run these publications using our central resources.

The purpose of this post is to notify new contributors who have joined our publications ILLUMINATION, ILLUMINATION-Curated, ILLUMINATION Book chapters, Technology Hits, SYNERGY, and ILLUMINATION’S MIRROR and get you started with essential information.

You are now ready to publish your stories and network with our large writing and reading community on Medium. Our publications run on Medium and comply with the platform rules and policies.

We have experienced ongoing glitches on publications recently. If your account is not added to the requested publications, please leave a comment on this article or contact us on our Slack to add you again.

All contributors must follow Medium rules to remain writers in our publications. Breaching of publication rules like committing plagiarism causes accounts to be removed from our publications.

We introduced a policy for handling photos as it is the most common issue for new writers. Please review this policy and submit your stories accordingly. Following copyright, rules are essential for all contributors.

Please note that we don’t accept plagiarized content and stories with copyrighted photos unless you own the rights.

ILLUMINATION Integrated publications are diverse and inclusive covering almost all topics across several disciplines. 9,500+ writers contribute to these publications now.

ILLUMINATION is currently among the top 50 most followed publications on Medium, out of 17,250 publications. 94,000+ Medium members follow ILLUMINATION now. ILLUMINATION-Curated is now followed by 31,800 readers. A combination of our six publications now serve 135,000+ readers on Medium.

We announced our new roadmap for ILLUMINATION Integrated Publications.

Please provide your feedback on this story.

100 Day Writing Challange

We created a new 100 day writing challenge to jumpstart new writers. We highly recommend all writers to participate in this challenge to grow on Medium. You can find necessary guidance in this article.

An introduction challange

There is another writing prompt to allow you introduce yourself and your work so far. You can also share you thoughts and feelings as a writer. This is an excellent opportunity for you to connect with a broader reading audience.

How to join ILLUMINATION Slack Workspace

Dr Mehmet Yildiz sent you an invitation to our Slack workspace. The invitation will be in your email inbox. It is optional to join Slack. However, we recommend you to take this excellent opportunity.

Our Slack workspace offers a free networking and collaboration service to our contributing writers. In addition, you can easily access editors and share your concerns. Networking on Slack will help you build sustainable and meaningful relationships with fellow writers and editors. Many new writers enjoy the experience.

This virtual workspace is our primary communication and collaboration platform. We have 7,000+ members in Slack. You can learn about Slack in this story.

Writing for publications

For ILLUMINATION and ILLUMINATION-Curated, you can write about many topics as long as your stories meet Medium rules and policies. We cover over 100 topics. Our readers love the variety and fresh stories every day.

Medium currently supports only 30 editors per publication. We have 65 editors however not all of them have access to ILLUMINATION due to the constraints imposed by Medium. To cover our large workload, we created a mirror version of ILLUMINATION and allocated new editors to support the workload. You can submit your additional stories to this new publication. Mirror serves as a backup for ILLUMINATION and hosts excessive stories created by our prolific writers.

Please see details in this story about ILLUMINATION’S MIRROR.

For new writers, we recommend submitting a maximum of three articles to ILLUMINATION or ILLUMINATION-Curated per day. The rest of your stories can be submitted to ILLUMINATION’S MIRROR. We created the mirror version for our prolific writers who submit multiple stories in a day. Medium allows up to 15 stories per writer a day. We provided you with access to both publications in case you want to submit multiple stories a day.

Your contributions are important to our readers. The diversity and variety you bring delight our valued readers. Our discerning readers use ILLUMINATION and ILLUMINATION-Curated as their front page.

These two publications are now followed by a large group of readers registered to Medium. We also have many readers from external sources.

We have established three new publications serving different audiences.

The publications you joined will show in your list. When you are editing your story and click on the three dots you will see them listed. You need to choose relevant publication you aim to send your story.

Introduction to new publications

Writers have the flexibility to share their stories among our publications to gain maximum visibility and readability.

Technology Hits

We have a new publication to extend our services and reach our broader audience interested in technology.

Technology Hits serves a specific audience interested in technology matters.

Here is the invitation to Technology Hits.

SYNERGY

SYNERGY is a strategic initiative to empower writers and create synergy with collaboration. This new publication has the same values as ILLUMINATION. But it is a specialized publication.

ILLUMINATION is a broad publication covering hundreds of topics, whereas SYNERGY is dedicated to freelance writers, editors, and bloggers.

SYNERGY serves specific requirements of writers. The purpose of SYNERGY is to bring together Medium writers, editors, and bloggers who also publish on other platforms such as Vocal Media, NewsBreak, Hub Pages, Patreon, Substack, and other freelancing platforms.

SYNERGY has remarkable contributors including experienced and accomplished writers. Many articles have already been curated by Medium. The curation success rate for SYNERGY is very high because a majority of the writers have extensive experience in writing.

SYNERGY is powered by ILLUMINATION and ILLUMINATION-Curated.

Details are in this story.

You may check some recent articles from SYNERGY.

ILLUMINATION Book Chapters

We designed this new publication to serve published authors and prepare our aspiring authors to get published. This unique publication has three main goals.

1 — Published authors can gain new readers via their repurposed book chapters. They can also earn income from their published content on Medium.

2 — Published authors can gain new followers and beta readers who can provide feedback for their new manuscripts.

3 — Aspiring writers can gain by creating manuscripts derived from their published stories. They can transfer them into the ILLUMINATION Book Chapters, obtain reader reviews, and publish them as books later.

Recommendations to new writers

Quality is the main requirement for all our publications.

Our readers expect well-crafted and quality content. We strive to meet readers’ expectations. Therefore, we encourage our writers to submit quality content. Please use this checklist before submitting your stories.

Please check our resources for guiding stories. You can find ILLUMINATION-related articles and writer resources on ILLUMINATION’s Blog publication. Please bookmark and follow this new publication designed to address your publishing needs.

We redesigned the ILLUMINATION front page. We removed publication related articles and hosted them in a blog publication. Our goal is to give more space to the stories of our writers. Details of the update can be found in this post.

Specific Actions for New Writers

1 — Please submit your best work for readers.

Your stories must be the type of content that you want to read.

2 — Caption [copyright-free photos] with source links.

This is a common concern. In fact, it is one of the most time-consuming and stressful situations for our editors. Editors are tired of leaving comments and waiting for responses from writers who neglect captioning photos.

All photos must be captioned with source links.

We recommend using copyright-free photos e.g. stock photos from unsplash.com, pexels.com, or pixabay.com. If you add your own photos please clearly explain the copyright status.

Please review our new policy for guidance.

This policy is now implemented.

3 — Our publications don’t accept plagiarized content.

We only accept stories written by you.

Medium does not accept plagiarism and duplication. Plagiarism is an illegal act and duplication is against Medium rules.

Our publications have zero tolerance for plagiarized materials. Our editors diligently monitor and detect plagiarism and duplication by using different methods and various tools.

Our position is detailed in this article. In a nutshell, we remove writers submitting plagiarized content.

4 — [As a new writer], please submit a maximum of two stories a day.

Considering contributions from thousands of writers, it is not possible to cater to multiple submissions from each writer especially when they require editing. We exempt outstanding stories from limited submission as our editors don’t have to spend too much time in improving content of experienced writers.

We are delighted to support our experienced and prolific and experienced writers to submit up to three drafts within 24 hours to ILLUMINATION and ILLUMINATION-Curated. Since they submit high-quality materials, we don’t have to spend too much time on these types of submissions. We are grateful.

Due to current editorial limitations imposed by Medium, we created a new publication to load balance ILLUMINATION. If you write multiple stories, you can submit the rest to ILLUMINATION’S MIRROR.

It is important to note that until new writers improve their writing skills and gain acceptance by readers, we recommend them to submit only one story a day. This restriction is for writers who are not familiar with the fundamentals of Medium story writing yet.

We will help you improve your skills.

We are accepting short-form stories. We allow additional three short-form stories per publication. Details are in this story.

5 — Please check and respond to your private messages.

Medium allows communication between publications and writers only via private messages. If your private messages were turned off, you would not receive a notification. Please check your story for * sign, which indicates a private message. This sign can usually be on the upper part of your story.

Editors may request you to fix an issue in your story. Please acknowledge and address the issue in a timely manner. We cannot hold stories for more than 24 hours in our queue. If no response is provided, we will return the story.

6 — Platform rules and expectations of your audience.

We are working on a large and complex platform.

It will be useful to learn the rules of the platform and get to know your audience.

Please check the conduct guidelines in the attached article.

7 — Review Publication Conduct Guidelines before submitting your story

Here are the simplified rules for new writers.

This story focuses on fundamentals and some advanced topics for writers. Many new writers found this story useful.

8 — Review the quality checklist

Please use this checklist before submitting your stories to our publications.

When you submit acceptable content, your stories can be published faster. You can reach out to your audience quicker and gain more readers. This checklist covers all our publishing requirements.
