We are excited to add you to our publications as contributors. Thanks for joining ILLUMINATION Integrated Publications supporting more than 12,300 writers on Medium.
The purpose of this post is to inform new writers joining our publications ILLUMINATION, ILLUMINATION-Curated, ILLUMINATION Book chapters, Technology Hits, SYNERGY, ILLUMINATION’S MIRROR, and Readers Hope.
We operate our publications via Slack. Our chief editor, Dr Mehmet Yildiz, will send you an invitation to the Slack workspace via the email address you registered to our writer application form. If you don’t receive the invitation, please leave a message on this article.
Please note that our Slack workspace is optional and free to join. However, networking on Slack might help you build your audience so you might create meaningful relationships with other writers and editors. Slack is the central communication platform for the delivery of our services. Our Slack workspace includes more than 9,600 members. You can contact our editors via the Slack tool easily and quickly. 76 volunteer editors across all geographies support our publications. They are also experienced writers who can understand your writing needs.
Guidance for Publishing
Our publications operate on Medium. Therefore, all contributors must adhere to the policies and rules of this platform. Before submitting your stories, please review publication guidelines. Our publications support different writers at all levels. You may find more information about publications in our roadmap for ILLUMINATION Integrated Publications. We include our educative artifacts to the starter kit.
When you submit stories with copyright-free photos and cite them correctly, they can be published faster. Please review the image handling policy before submitting your stories, if you are a new writer on Medium. We don’t accept stories with copyrighted images. It is against Medium rules and publication policy.
We check plagiarism and reject stolen articles. If writers attempts plagiarism, we also remove their accounts and stories from our publications. Medium penalise plagiarists. Plagiarism is the worst crime a writer could do. We warn our contributors upfront due to dire consequences. We tolerate errors but do not tolerate plagiarism.
Our writers’ success is important to use. Thus, we created some writing challenges for writers. These challenges can helpful you to get started. And you can gain new followers and readers if you join challenges. Please check our 100-day writing challenge. We created a writing prompt. More readers can generate more income on Medium. You are paid based on reading times of your stories. Other metrics such as followers and claps don’t matter much. However, followers matter if you need to meet 100 followers requirement to join Medium Partner Program. We don’t edit stories submitted to Readers Hope but we provide guidance via private notes and on Slack workspace. We support writers at all levels — aspiring, experienced, accomplished, and influential — . We don’t discriminate writers based on their levels. All contributors are equally important to us. We don’t tolerate arrogant behaviour against aspiring writers. Online bullies are reported and removed from our publications.
Our desire is to encourage aspiring writers to find their voice in a safe and supportive environment so that they can gain experience. We all start from somewhere, learn gradually, and build our writing skills. Some of us learn fast and some of us learn slow. It is an individual choice.
You have flexibility to publish both draft and self-publish articles. However, we hihgly recommend draft submissions to get best exposure from the publication readers. It is your choice.
If you have curated articles from closed publications such as PSILY or Ascent, you are welcome to transfer them. We are happy to give a home for previously distributed stories. Many contributors joined us from PSILY transferred their stories and they gained new readers especially on ILLUMINATION-Curated. If you have a good track record on having distributed articles, please let us know so we can add you to ILLUMINATION-Curated for advanced writers.
Our goal is to create a diverse and inclusive community. Everyone is welcome. We support all types of writers by cross-pollinating them to get the best out of our pubs. We don’t discriminate writers but we don’t tolerate toxic behaviour harming the platform. Medium is a peaceful and supportive platform for writers and readers.
You are not exclusive to our pubs. As a contributor, you can contribute to other publications. We support your goals. You may remove your articles if you want to. Some new writers don’t know how to add articles to publications. It is simple. To submit your stories to our publications you need is to click on the three (…) dots in the edit mode on top right part of your screen. You will see the publications listed when you click on the submit button. You can choose the relevant publication to send your story to. After that, just click on the submit button. When your story is submitted, our editors will receive it and review it. If it meets Medium rules and publication guidelines, they will publish it.
If you don’t see our pubs in the list, this means that we need to add your account again. In this case, please leave a message on this post. We give a fair chance to all writers.
