Transforming Readers into Micro-Writers

Readers Hope is a unique publication. It brings hope to readers.

All avid readers who want to become writers are welcome.

This publication can be ideal if you want to increase your followers, regular readers, and advocates.

Followers matter to new writers. Here’s how to gain more followers meaningfully without stressing too much: 6 Easy & Proven Tips to Increase Followers.

Introduction to Readers' Hope

I believe that most writers are also avid readers. However, I also believe that anyone who enjoys reading can also become a writer. This is because writing and reading go hand in hand. They are inseparable.

Writing looks like a daunting task to some readers. Some even see it as a pie-in-the-sky occupation. However, I believe many would benefit from writing regardless of compensation.

I know innumerable writers on this platform who write for the sheer joy of it, whether they simply feel empowered or enjoy when they find out that something they wrote helped another person in some way, shape or form.

Anyone who can write an email can write a blog post or compile a tweet. Furthermore, anyone who can write a micro-blog post can also write a story. I characterize aspiring writers as micro-writers in this post. They are beginners with tiny steps.

The participation problem comes from fear of being judged, ridiculed, and rejected. I know that rejections hurt. Perhaps this fear was valid until a few decades ago when writing was exclusive to elites.

However, nowadays, anyone can be a writer with a bit of effort, planning, support, and learning a few practical techniques. The more ideas we create, the better for society. However, my only concern is trolls who discourage genuine people who want to express themselves authentically.

Digital tools changed the landscape of the writing profession. Millions of books and thousands of writers are published at online stores like Amazon, Apple, Google, Kobo, Scribd, and many more.

In this post, I share a few compelling ideas to get readers to start writing small pieces and gradually find their voice. I have the vision to transform readers into writers easily and quickly.

What Readers Can Write About

Since readers love reading, they find exciting stories and meet amazing writers who become their favorite and regularly read authors.

As a reader, I am very attached to some writers. I follow them, subscribe to their materials, and save their stories in my reading list to read later. I do everything not to miss any piece from my favorite writers.

I believe many readers do the same. Here are two scenarios.

1 — How about avid readers write a few lines about their favourite authors and post them in a short story in 100 to 150 words, just as long as an average email or a microblog.

3 — How about if they add those paragraphs for, let’s say, five favourite stories and submit a long story in 500 to 1500 words.

I believe it is possible to improve writing gradually, starting with a 100 words story and extending it to several hundred-word stories later.

There is a method in project management called Agile. In this entrepreneurial method, team members create user stories and turn them into epics. This method seeks to create a minimally viable product — progress, not perfection. It is known as MVP.

So a minimum viable product for a reader could be one paragraph testimony about a favorite author or a paragraph of review for a favorite story.

In my opinion, testimonials and story reviews are low-hanging fruits for readers to start writing. However, when this writing activity is done consistently, the brain starts re-wiring, strengthening the writing muscles.

After gaining some experience with testimonials and reviews, the next step is introducing daily activities in a paragraph. For example, you may consider describing an interesting movie, the feeling of a new song, your thoughts about current events, and conversations with your children, siblings, parents, or partners. You may even keep a daily online journal, including photos and illustrations. The possibilities for topics and content are endless.

After performing such consistent writing activity, the new writers can find their voice gradually. They can learn new techniques experimentally. The more they write, the more they might want to write. The compound effect is a transferable phenomenon to writing practice.

Key Benefits of Raw Writing for Beginners

First of all, when we achieve even something tiny, our brain rewards us with the good feel hormone dopamine. Consistently receiving this dopamine reward from an activity, we can turn it into a hobby or even work.

Our hobbies are part of our lifestyle, and they enrich our lives. They increase the quality of life. Writing about others and giving testimonials for writers can create a bond with other people. You can gain new friends and start enhancing your circle of friends and collaborators. The bigger your network gets, the more successful you can become.

You can improve your writing skills and use them for your business. Who knows, one day you will find your voice and become a famous writer who can earn a living from writing. Anything is possible.

Besides, writing is a therapeutic practice. Therapeutic Value of Writing How communities can motivate and empower writers.

A Unique Platform Encouraging Raw Content

Writing platforms play an important role in content development, marketing, and distribution. A flexible governance system with minimal rules can encourage aspiring writers to post with confidence and no concerns about being judged for contrived standards.

I vision a raw content hosting platform with only a few rules, such as meeting policies preventing the platform from harmful material.

Since the purpose is to encourage raw writing, no one should judge aspiring writers. It is the purpose of creating a community to support raw content writers and lovers of this type of natural content. I am designing a mentorship program assigning volunteer top writers who can provide supportive and uplifting feedback. Without feedback, it is difficult to make progress and grow sustainably.

There will be no judgment about your writing quality in this initiative. I designed it as a publication to support raw writing by using design thinking principles. You can even make deliberate language errors. For example, you may ignore commas and other punctuation signs, or you may play with words. In short, you can express yourself with your authentic voice and write about whatever your heart says as long as you don’t defame anyone.

I know elitists will dislike this idea. That is fine as it is not for them. Let them mind their own business. Some people like cheap beer, and some prefer expensive liquor. Some like fast food, and some prefer fine dining. It is a personal choice in the end.

This initiative aims to be yourself and express yourself with raw content without worrying about style and writing rules.

But if your writing improves, I operate several publications to cater to your high-quality and stylish pieces. Some people eat fast food sometimes, and they also do fine dining. This sort of lifestyle can be more exciting for some people.

How Can We Showcase Reader Stories?

For example, since I believe in the unusual idea of converting readers to writers, I initiated a project and asked my team to create a platform. We named it “Readers Hope”.

If you want to write short stories, including testimonies for writers you follow and review their stories, you can post them in a new platform. Then, you can write about almost anything else within the policies of the platform.

This is a brand new and first-of-a-kind initiative on this platform. I posted a few samples to give you an idea. I hope these examples can spark some interest in you.

What If People Criticize Raw Writing?

Of course, some people will criticize and even try to ridicule some raw content. It is natural. No worries. They will be your allies in the long term.

You can use the criticism intentionally and innovatively to increase your adversity quotient, which is another important life skill for survival and thriving.

I helped many people to deal with criticism effectively and productively. In the big scheme of things, critics don’t matter. The only impact they make is noise.

However, there are practical ways to deal with noise. For example, does MacDonald’s care about what an elite restaurant writes about them?

In short, call me crazy, but I will do anything to convert readers to writers.

Goals of Readers Hope

These are seven goals for writers of Readers Hope.

1 — Start small and grow gradually

2 — Use raw content to your advantage

3 — Write about anything you want to

4 — Connect with like-minded readers and writers

5 — Create serendipity with meaningful engagements

6 — Create synergy with collaboration

7 — Eventually, make writing a hobby or business

Conclusions

No one was born a writer.

Anyone with little time, effort, interest, dedication, and support can be a blogger, storyteller, writer, and finally, a published author.

With small steps, we can start a long journey. With excitement in this journey, our tiny steps can gain momentum and get bigger and faster gradually.

Why not post a paragraph tomorrow introducing one of your favorite writers or their stories? This may be the first step to an exciting journey. Testimonials matter to writers. Then, you can introduce other easy topics from your daily life.

You have nothing to lose but a lot to gain in the long term. Freelance writing, as a flexible lifestyle, can be fun and lucrative.

I suggest you see this post as a serendipity piece knocking on your door. Welcome to Readers’ Hope. You can write about anything and everything without any worry.
