i did it and the world is still apparently spinning
now i would like to share something i hope you will find useful

by the way i dont read fiction in my downtime
real life is too frickfrack absurd already
in addition to humor and poetry i enjoy nonfiction and i hope you read the genres that thoroughly appeal to you
bird by bird is an autobiographical guide to navigating a writing career that deserves your attention if you have not read it
the book includes stellar advice for writing first drafts that i remind myself of regularly
instead of merely first drafts lamott calls them shitty first drafts
the concept involves giving yourself permission to be bad or rough at something before you can be good or elegant
in this case that something is writing
the title of bird by bird comes from a piece of advice lamott retells that her father gave to her brother during their childhood
her brother had a school project on birds and he felt overwhelmed
wisely the father counseled his son to approach the daunting assignment bird by bird
dr yildiz has launched a beautiful publication and we are here to help you grow from a reader to a writer
through your experiences with this publication you can develop and reinforce the wondrous habit of immersing yourself in your writing and adding word after word until you simply must come up for air
