Meet Editors of Illumination Integrated Publications

Introduction

ILLUMINATION is a unique publication established on the principles of collaboration, synergy, and serendipity. This publication and its sisters of ILLUMINATION Integrated Publications aim to give an opportunity to every writer at any level to gain more visibility, new readers, and more reading times.

Keeping the acceptance requirements at a minimum, ILLUMINATION accepts every writer willing to contribute to the platform by adhering to Medium policies and guidelines. Apart from this essential requirement, the publication welcomes all writers at any level, from beginners to accomplished. Experienced writers support the new ones as a giveback service to the community.

These publications operate based on agreed principles, content development values, effective marketing strategy, and innovative distribution tactics following the policies and guidance of Medium. This unique leadership approach has attracted many writers, readers, and volunteer editors who willingly contribute to the growth of these integrated publications.

Why Editors Feature Stories

There are two reasons why editors feature stories.

The first reason is to help writers gain visibility, increase subscribers, and turn their followers into regular readers. The second and primary goal is to improve reading times and to increase income for writers.

As a customer-focused publication, ILLUMINATION serves readers and values their demands. Many subscribers request featured and curated content from a wide variety of creators.

Considering the requirements of writers and readers, our editors invest their personal time to review, publish, and promote high-quality stories with no obligation. It is a giveback activity to the reading and writing community on Medium.

Editors are prolific writers and avid readers. They understand the needs of both writers and readers. They have the capability of finding valuable material and enjoy packaging them as featured content for the enjoyment of discerning readers.

This act of kindness by editors creates a win-win position for both writers and readers. Writers gain further visibility of their content and obtain new subscribers who can increase their reading times. And readers get access to their desired content easily, quickly, and with confidence.

Purpose of Featured Collections

Various editors feature stories on a daily basis, and they have a specific audience. Some editors have created many featured stories. For example, Dew Langrial created around 100 releases of top 10 stories. It is not easy to share these links. Now readers can access her collections at a single link. Readers don’t have to search for old documents.

To achieve this goal, our chief editor recommended collecting all editorial features in a single story that allows easy access to a broader reader base. In addition, this artifact can give readers more reading options. These stories can also help the new writers to learn from the best stories and connect with those writers.

To this end, we collect all featured stories with a single link per editor and multiple links per their various collections. This one-stop-shop approach gives readers to find the best stories featured by various editors.

It is not possible to share all featured stories one by one with our subscribers. However, sharing this single link in our newsletters, blogs, and distributions will be easy.

So far 20 editors have actively featured stories. However, 76 editors contribute to our publications for reviewing and publishing. Many of these editors are keen to start featuring.

We are redesigning our publications to give easy access to readers. Our chief editor is working on this and will inform us shortly.

Writer Nominated Stories

This is a new service. We have started this new initiative in our Slack workspace for members. These 9,000+members are writers of Medium. We asked them to nominate their favorite stories in a channel where our editors can easily pick and introduce them in their daily bulletins.

We believe this new approach will create further vitality between writers and readers. We are an open community. Any writer who can follow Medium rules can join us. Here is the request link to join our publications as a writer.
