About Short-Form Stories

Some writers enjoy conveying their thoughts in a few words. It is good for them. We have good news to support these types of writers. All my publications now accept short-form stories on Medium. You can find the details in the attached stories.

First of all, short stories are not for earning income on Medium as they don’t generate any tangible benefits. They only earn a few cents. However, there are many intangible benefits, such as growing your audience, which matter for freelance writers.

Introduction

Do you want to gain 1,000 followers in the next three months? o you want to earn at least $300 per month? Do you want to be a prolific and recognized writer on Medium? If your answers are yes, please read about my madness. There is an order behind it.

Why another challenge?

I want you to move out of your comfort zone and encourage you to operate in your stretch zone. Seeing our contributors grow with passion gives me the utmost pleasure. So it is a kind of selfish reason for me.

Our 100-day challenge inspired hundreds of aspiring writers.

I received many gratitude and appreciation letters from our writers thanking me for getting this initiative started. I feel privileged to inspire and motivate so many writers to enjoy writing.

Some writers who had a break are now coming back. For example, the story title Jumping on the Bandwagon for a 100 Days by Keno Ogbo is a great example.

And I found daily stories of Misbah Ul Haq Syed that started on 17 April and he submitted many stories since then. So is Ann Venkataraman like this interesting story called Kubernetes For Kindergarten Kids submitted on Day 9.

Many more writers are making significant progress and gaining more confidence each day. I will compile them at an opportune time.

As pointed out by many experienced writers, we have experienced a dramatic decline in views and reading time stats since last November. Many top writers raised their concerns in a plethora of articles on Medium. All those sad stories have resonated with me because I have lost substantial views and reading times even though my followers increased. I shared my experience with followers in this story.

Instead of staying passive and losing our motivation, I recommend writers take personal responsibility to find their audience on Medium. There is no point in whining and cursing the outside forces. By taking personal responsibility, we can manage things within our control and stop worrying about those beyond our control.

As an editorial team, we provided many challenges, prompts, and guide posts.

In this post, I want to initiate a new challenge called 1,000 Short Post in 100 Days.

I created a post on the benefits of short-form stories and how to use them.

Please check this post for details. I shared the order behind my madness.

Benefits of this writing challenge

How can this challenge help our writers, especially experienced ones with many articles on Medium?

I know that hundreds of articles crafted by these experienced writers are buried under the dust. Readers do not have a chance to view them. It is difficult to find them in this vast ocean.

Using hand-crafted short-form stories, you can give a second life to your great stories hidden in this ocean.

Starting from today, I recommend you post ten short-form stories to relevant publications. You can use ILLUMINATION Integration Publications, other publications, or your own publications.

Considering you can allocate five minutes per short-form story with around 50–150 words, you can create ten posts in less than an hour.

An hour of daily investment can create potential views and reading times for your stories. Each short post can bring new readers to your old stories.

You can gain new followers and regular readers.

Let’s think conservatively. If each post brings one follower, 1,000 posts in the next three months can get you 1,000 new followers. If you can turn 10% of these followers into regular readers, you can gain 100 new readers.

If 100 readers spend one minute a day, you can get 100 minutes of reading. This effort can bring approximately $10 in income per day and $300 per month. I believe this is a reasonably expected income for many writers.

I only provide this example as guidance to show you great potential. This simple investment can have a compound effect as you make it a habit.

If you continue this habit, you can gain a substantial audience and build your writing practice on Medium within a year.

I believe any serious writer can invest one hour a day to reap these benefits.

Conclusions and Takeaways

My points are not just theory. I created this vision based on my observations and experience.

You join the challenge, and you will see the results. I want to see you establish a great audience who read your content regularly. This hard-earned achievement will give you a lot of pleasure.

You have nothing to lose. Your entrepreneurial muscles will grow. Your business fitness will enhance.

See this one-hour daily investment as a therapeutic and educational investment for your growth. After each hour of accomplishment, you can feel better, and your writing skills can dramatically improve in a year.

I invite you to invest in your writing career by taking personal responsibility.

I am here to guide, help and support you. I know that many editors and fellow writers will support you in this journey.

Let’s make it happen.

This challenge can also prepare you for creating your 30,000-word e-book.
