Dear new writers,

Thank you for joining our publications as new contributors. We are pleased to meet you. Our writing and reading community on Medium is a joyful group.

ILLUMINATION Integrated publications are now supporting over 10,700+ writers on Medium. We are excited to support these writers who make our readers happy with their engaging stories.

Based on information you provided in our application form, your Medium accounts were added to our relevant publications. You are now contributing writers of some ILLUMINATION Integrated Publications on Medium.

We are pleased to see many writers from former PSILY (PS I Love You) pubication joining us today. PSILY writers can directly post their stories to ILLUMINATION-Curated. Please request access to this special publication pointing out your status if you don’t have access rights yet.

This post aims to notify new writers who have joined our group of publications ILLUMINATION, ILLUMINATION-Curated, ILLUMINATION Book chapters, Technology Hits, SYNERGY, and ILLUMINATION’S MIRROR and get you started with essential information.

You are ready to publish your stories onI ILLUMINATION Integrated Publications (IPP). You can start networking with our large writing and reading community through the Slack Workspace. Our publications operate on Medium. Thus you need to comply with the platform rules and policies.

We experience some glitches on publications recently. We were unable to add a few accounts. One reason for this problem could be updating your old profile to new format which changes the link code. Some requests also go to spam folders beyond our control.

If your account is not added to the requested publications, please leave a comment on this post or contact us on our Slack to add you again.

There is a channel titled #writerstobeadded on Slack. You can leave a message with your Medium ID in the channel or directly contact Dr Yildiz on Slack.

We advise our contributors to follow Medium rules to remain writers in our publications. Breaching of Medium policies and publication rules such as committing plagiarism, defaming, and posting offensive content causes accounts to be removed from our publications. Medium suspend accounts of plagiarisers and those who breach rules. Please don’t attempt to plagiarize as offenders will be caught and removed. We have no tolerance to plagiarism.

Please read our guidelines before submitting your stories. There are instructions for different levels of writers.

Dealing with photos waste our time. To address the issue, we introduced guidelines for handling story photos. All requirements are clearly pointed out in the attached policy document. Please review this document before submitting your stories.

ILLUMINATION Integrated publications don’t accept plagiarized content. Consequences are severe. We remove plagiarists from our publications. Offenders can also get penalty from Medium and legal entities.

ILLUMINATION Integrated publications are diverse and inclusive covering almost all topics across several disciplines. 10,500+ writers contribute to these publications now. You can learn about our new roadmap for ILLUMINATION Integrated Publications.

To jumpstart new contributors like you, we created a 100 day writing challenge. Please consider participating in this challenge to grow your writing portfolio on Medium. Necessary instructions are in this article.

There is also another writing prompt that you can participate. The aim of this prompt is to increase your followers, views, and reading times. Participating in this challenge can introduce you to your audience.

1,000 Short Posts in 100 Days For Prolific Writers

We crafted this challenge for prolific writers. The aim is to find new readers. Try to submit as many short-forms as you can. We encourage to submit in 100 days but it is not set in stone. It is only a motivational guidance.

To assist with this specific challenge, you can find guidance on how to and why to use short-form stories in the attached story.

Short-Form Stories Not For Income But For Visibility. Think Of Them As A Tripwire

All writing challenges and prompts are optional. Our purpose is to motivate you. Please don’t feel obliged to participate. However, we highly recommend you if you want to be a top writer soon. Please check the instructions on pursuing top writer status on Medium. Medium rewards top 2,000 writers.

How To Become A Top Writer In Three Months

Writing for publications

For ILLUMINATION and ILLUMINATION-Curated, you can write about as many topics as you want . As long as your stories meet Medium rules and policies, we will publish them. We cover hundreds of tags and all topics. Our readers enjoy the variety and fresh stories.

Medium currently allow only 30 editors per publication. It is a platform constraint. We have 70 editors. However, not all of them have access to ILLUMINATION due to the constraints imposed by Medium publication system. We hope they fix this issue soon. It has been long affecting our performance.

To cover our growing workload, we created a a mirror of ILLUMINATION using the same settings. Of course we don’t duplicate stories of ILLUMINATION. It is a publication by itself. We call it ILLUMINATION’S MIRROR. This workaround help us to allocate the rest of editors to support the workload. Therefore we added those who applied to ILLUMINATION to ILLUMINATION’s MIRROR too. Our aim is to cater needs of prolific writers who submit multiple articles a day. If you are submitting only one article a day, you don’t need ILLUMINATION’s MIRROR unless you want to reach out to a different audience.

You can submit your extra stories to ILLUMINATION’S MIRROR. This publication also serves as a backup for ILLUMINATION. It hosts excessive stories created by our prolific writers. Please find more information about this publication in this article.

For new writers, we suggest submitting a maximum of three articles to ILLUMINATION or ILLUMINATION-Curated per day. We have limited editors for them. Therefore, the rest of your stories can be submitted to ILLUMINATION’S MIRROR.

This is a commonly question. So to re-iterate, we created the mirror version for our prolific writers who submit multiple stories in a day. Medium allows up to 15 stories per writer a day.

ILLUMINATION’S MIRROR also serve as a backup publication in case we have an outage for ILLUMINATION. We provided you with access to both publications in case you want to submit multiple stories a day.

We support our prolific writers. Your contributions are important to our readers. The diversity and variety you offer delight our valued readers. Our readers use ILLUMINATION ILLUMINATION-Curated. SYNERGY, Technology Hits, and ILLUMINATION Books Chapters as their front pages.

How to submit articles for beginners

When you are editing your story and click on the three (…) dots. You will see the publication listed in your profile.

You need to choose relevant publication you aim to send your story.

Our contributors have the flexibility to share their stories among our publications to gain maximum visibility and readability.

About other publications we support

Technology Hits

The aim of Technology Hits is to extend our services and reach our broader audience interested in technology and related topics. Technology Hits serves a specific audience interested in information technology, entrepreneurship, and tech news.

Please find more information and the scope in the invitation to Technology Hits story.

You can also get an idea on featured stories on Technology Hits by Editor of Technology Hits

SYNERGY

SYNERGY is a strategic initiative aiming to empower writers and create synergy with collaboration. This new publication has the same values as ILLUMINATION. But it is a specialized publication. ILLUMINATION is a broad publication covering hundreds of topics, whereas SYNERGY is dedicated to freelance writers, editors, and bloggers.

SYNERGY serves specific requirements of freelance writers. The purpose of SYNERGY is to bring together Medium writers, editors, and bloggers who also publish on other platforms such as Vocal Media, NewsBreak, Hub Pages, Patreon, Substack, and other freelancing platforms.

SYNERGY hosts articles of great contributors including experienced and accomplished writers. Many articles are curated by Medium. The curation success rate for SYNERGY is very high because a majority of the writers have extensive experience in writing and editing. SYNERGY is powered by ILLUMINATION and ILLUMINATION-Curated editors.

Details are in this story.

You may check some recent articles from SYNERGY.

ILLUMINATION Book Chapters

We established this publication to serve published and indie authors and prepare our aspiring authors to get published.

This publication has the following goals.

1 — Published authors can gain new readers via their repurposed book chapters. They can also earn income from their published content on Medium.

2 — Published authors can gain new followers and beta readers who can provide feedback for their new manuscripts.

3 — Aspiring writers can gain by creating manuscripts derived from their published stories. They can transfer them into the ILLUMINATION Book Chapters, obtain reader reviews, and publish them as books later.

Collaboration Guidelines

We established a virtual platform bringing our members to one space. It is called Slack workspace. Communication on Medium is limited. The only viable option is using private messages. Therefore, we created this extended service allowing better communication and collaboration among our contributors.

Dr Mehmet Yildiz will send you an invitation to our Slack workspace. It will come to you via email address that you provide in your application form. If you don’t have the invitation, please apply again as your application might be lost or go to the spam folder. It happens sometimes.

Joining Slack workspace is optional. We recommend you to take this opportunity. Our Slack workspace offers a free networking and collaboration service to our contributing writers. Furthermore, you can easily access editors and share your concerns when your stories are delayed or have other publishing problems.

Networking on Slack might help you build sustainable and meaningful relationships with fellow writers and editors. Many new writers enjoy the experience and they are grateful for this service.

This virtual workspace is our primary communication and collaboration platform. Our Slack workspace has over 8,000 members. You can learn about Slack in this story.

Practical suggestions to new contributors

Our readers expect well-crafted, engaging, informative, and quality content. We strive to meet their requirements and expectations. Quality is the main requirement for all our publications. Thus, we encourage our writers to submit their best work.

Please use this checklist before submitting your stories.

You can find ILLUMINATION-related articles and writer resources on ILLUMINATION’s Blog publication. You may bookmark and follow this new publication designed to address your publishing needs.

Here are the key actions

1 — Submit your best work to satisfy your readers.

Your stories must be the type of content that you want to read.

2 — Cite your copyright-free photos with source links.

This is a critical concern. It is time-consuming and stressful situations for our editors. Editors are tired of leaving comments and waiting for responses from writers who neglect captioning photos. Photo issues cause delays for publishing your great stories.

Publication Policy: All photos must be captioned with source links.

Please use copyright-free photos e.g. stock photos from unsplash.com, pexels.com, pixabay.com and several more listed in the attached story.

If you add your subscription photos please clearly explain the copyright status. Please review our photo handling policy for guidance.

3 — Refrain from plagiarism.

We cannot emphasize this point enough. Despite all, we still deal with some plagiarists. It is disappointing. We had to remove 250+ writers who attempted plagiarism. And Medium suspended their accounts. Plagiarism is not accepted on Medium.

Medium and our publications only accept stories written by you. Medium sees plagiarism and duplication as an offence. Plagiarism is an illegal act. Duplication is against Medium rules. Please be careful for these two critical points. We add these statements in every onboarding pack but some people still attempt to post plagiarised content.

Stating this very strongly, our publications have zero tolerance for plagiarized materials. Our editors diligently monitor and detect plagiarism and duplication by using different methods and tools. Our position against plagiarism is detailed in this article.

4 — Start submitting one story a day and wait for reader exposure.

Considering contributions from thousands of writers, it is not possible to cater to multiple submissions from each writer especially when their stories require substantial editing. We exempt outstanding stories from limited submission as our editors don’t have to spend too much time in improving content of experienced writers.

We are delighted to support our experienced and prolific and experienced writers to submit up to three drafts within a day to ILLUMINATION and ILLUMINATION-Curated. Since experienced writers submit high-quality materials, we don’t have to spend too much editing time on these types of submissions. We are grateful to their diligence.

Due to current editorial limitations imposed by Medium, we created a new publication to load balance ILLUMINATION. If you write multiple stories, you can submit the rest to ILLUMINATION’S MIRROR.

It is important to note that until new writers improve their writing skills and gain acceptance by readers, we recommend them to submit only one story a day. This restriction is for writers who are not familiar with the fundamentals of Medium story writing yet.

We are accepting short-form stories. We allow additional three short-form stories per publication. Details are in this story.

5 — Respond to your private messages sent by our editors.

Medium allows communication between publications and writers only via private messages. When your private messages were turned off in settings, you would not receive a notification. Please check your story for * sign. This sign indicates a private message. This sign can usually be on the upper part of your story.

Editors may request you to fix an issue in your story. Please acknowledge and address the issue in a timely manner. We cannot hold stories for more than 24 hours in our queue. If no response is provided, we will return the story.

6 — Understand policies and rules of Medium

We are working on a large and complex platform. Medium has thousands of writers and readers. It will be useful to learn the rules of the platform and get to know your audience. Please check the conduct guidelines in the attached article.

7 — Review IPP publications’ conduct guidelines including other useful articles below before submitting your stories.

These stories can guide new writers. Here are the simplified rules for new writers.

This story focuses on fundamentals and some advanced topics for writers. Many new writers found this story useful.

8 — Review the quality checklist

We created a checklist based on our guidelins. Please use this checklist before submitting your stories to our all publications. When you submit acceptable content, your stories can be published faster. You can reach out to your audience quicker and gain new readers. You can find our publishing requirements in this checklist.

9 — Declare your affiliate links in your stories

Affiliate links can be useful for freelance writers. If you are writing a story and want to add a link to relevant resources that you affiliate with you can use them in your stories. Medium allows affiliate links but they must be clearly declared. Please see the details in this story.

You can learn about affiliate marketing from this book published on ILLUMINATION Book Chapters. Medium members can read the book free.

If you are freelance writer, you may check membership opportunity for this site and find resources offering freelance writing jobs.

10 — Promote your stories meaningfully

Please take responsibility to create visibility for your stories.
