PlayStations New Xbox Elite Controller Rival
At the opening night live stream of Gamescom yesterday, Playstation announced their new piece of hardware.
As you may know, a few years ago, Xbox released a pro version of their game controller called the Xbox Elite controller.
It featured a very high build quality with grippy textures along with tactile buttons and very smooth joysticks.
There were also a few interesting features such as swappable joysticks, a swappable D-Pad, trigger distance adjusters, as well as four remappable paddles on the back of the controller.
This has been the main controller I’ve used on both my Xbox and my PC.

The DualSense Edge is Playstation’s “first-ever high-performance, ultra-customizable controller.”
Many are saying the Dualsense Edge could very well be the direct rival to the Xbox Elite Series 2 controller.
The DualSense Edge includes all the features of the current DualSense controller. I recently wrote an article about the Playstation 5 and highlighted features of the DualSense controller.

The DualSense Edge offers a bunch of customizable aspects to the controller.
This could potentially make this controller the best controller for Pc gaming as well as the best for the Playstation platform.
The Dualsense Edge features remappable buttons, as well as adjustable distance triggers.
It will also be packed with height-varied joysticks, with low, medium, and high variants, as well as two sets of back buttons.
Joystick replacements will be sold by Playstation, so if you wear out the grip on your joystick, you won’t have to buy a whole new controller.
You’ll also have the option to create different controller profiles with different maps, which can be changed by the on-controller interface.
Playstations Art director Daisuke Kurihara states:
“We wanted to build on the legacy of the iconic Playstation controllers by creating a controller that empowers players to experiment and personalize elements based on their own unique playstyles. whether they are a competitive gamer or someone who just enjoys having more options to customize their play.”
I’m very excited to see how the DualSense Edge controller turns out to be. I will definitely be buying this controller for use on my Playstation 5.
But I doubt it will replace my Xbox Elite Series 2 on my PC since I do prefer the shape of Xbox controllers. But only time will tell.
