Searching for Charity — A Drabble Short Story
Why should I do it differently?

Hey there! This is my reader’s guide to my drabble short story “Searching for Charity”, about a group of sometimes questionable heroes searching for their friend. This GameLit story is inspired by the role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons.
You might still wonder, “What the heck is a drabble?!” A drabble is a 100-word story, no more, no less. You have to fit everything in that word count. My friend JF Danskin likes drabbles so much that he’d invite them for brunch. Sadly, drabbles don’t eat. So he did the next best thing and challenged a bunch of writers.
So, that’s my challenge. Write a drabble. And if you can use one of my writing prompts to do it, so much the better!
Being among those honoured to be prompted by JF, I got carried away by his choice of words, “so much the better!” I thought, “Why should I write only one drabble?” Before I could do a thing about it, I had written five drabbles in a row and used my writer friends’ writing prompts when possible.
Maybe it was that relaxed atmosphere you get sitting on the terrace on a sunny day. Pandora’s box was open, and “Searching for Charity” emerged.

To make this whole thing even better, FJCMontenegro challenged me to write a series of connected drabbles today. As he put it, I’m now officially a time traveller. But as I had already completed his challenge before knowing of it, I like to ask Kathy K to take up the challenge for me. Here’s the masterful story in which he challenged me.
A writer’s life is challenging. You can help with these challenges by reading my fictional tales, subscribing to my email list or joining Medium with my referral link.
