Summary

In "The Goblin Union №1," part of the "Searching for Charity" series, Viper learns not to judge goblins, understanding they are not inherently evil but rather face discrimination and struggle with labor issues.

Abstract

The story, titled "The Goblin Union №1," is part of a larger fantasy narrative called "Searching for Charity." In this installment, Viper, one of the adventurers, expresses a common prejudice against goblins, only to be corrected by Diera, who notes that the goblins can hear them. The goblins, feeling disrespected, point out their intelligence and right to make a living without discrimination, challenging the stereotype that they are evil. It is revealed that the goblins were discussing labor issues, contrary to Viper's expectations of them plotting evil deeds. The chapter is part of JF Danskin's "A Drabble Challenge for Authors" and is inspired by a writing prompt from Chelsea Marie. The author encourages readers to support their work and the character Herald by engaging with their fictional tales, subscribing to their email list, or joining Medium through their referral link.

“Yuck! Goblins!”

Viper pulled a face.

“I wouldn’t say that… they can hear you….”

One of the goblins turned at Diera’s words and angrily pointed his pipe at the adventurers.

“Indeed, we can!”

“We are small,” another added, “but not stupid!”

“But you’re evil, right?” Viper asked.

“Evil?!” another goblin shouted, angrily waving his fist.

“So judgemental!” the first goblin said, “We are trying to make a living. Ever seen a goblin accountant?”

“No?” Viper replied.

“Because people like you are discriminating against us!”

“You didn’t just discuss evil plans?”

“No,” Diera said, “They were complaining about the labour situation.”
