Searching for Charity №18 — Herald disapproves of Charity’s new crush …

“Your new ghoulfriend?!”
Herald glared disapprovingly.
“Dhampir,” the prisoner with the smooth, silky hair said.
“Shut up!”
“I like his voice!”
The dhampir looked at Charity and raised his shackled hands.
“Little help? Please!”
His melodic voice reminded her of a Carillion.
Herald presented his holy symbol.
“Halt your accursed glockenspiel voice, demon!”
“I’m so afraid. A golden necklace with a sun dangling from it.”
“It’s an amulet!”
“Stop, Herald!” Charity barked, “Use your spider-sense.”
“My what?!”
“Whatever paladins use to detect evil.”
Herald concentrated hard, which gave him the look of congestion problems.
“You’re right. He isn’t evil!”
