Summary

In a fantasy setting, the characters Lucian, Herald, and Charity encounter a musical trap that leads to a revelation about the healing power of music amidst a dangerous dungeon adventure.

Abstract

The narrative titled "The Power of Music" is part of the "Searching for Charity №22" series, where the characters are navigating through a perilous dungeon. Lucian, one of the adventurers, unexpectedly produces a flute to play a melody, hoping to harness its healing properties for Herald, who is struggling with his plate armour amidst electrical currents and sparks. Despite Herald's initial aversion to flutes, as they tend to attract enemies in dungeons, the music surprisingly heals his legs. This moment of respite is a turning point in their quest, and it is revealed that the story is inspired by JF Danskin's "A Drabble Challenge for Authors." “Plate armour must suck right now,” Lucian said.

Electrical currents occasionally ran over Herald’s armour, and sparks flew whenever his left eye twitched nervously.

Charity tried to silence Lucian with a telling glare.

“I know what you need,” Lucian shouted, suddenly holding a flute, “The healing power of music!”

“I… HATE… FLUTES!”

Herald drew his weapon, his eye twitching in the rhythm of Lucian’s melody.

“Your … eh … legs!” Charity said, “They healed?!”

“Thank the goddess!”

“Why do you hate flutes anyway?”

The paladin pointed at the skeletons approaching from the doors behind Charity.

“In dungeons, they attract enemies!”
