This is a continuing story. Find previous instalments here.
“There are too many!” Lucian shouted, standing top-down on the ceiling.
Herald cut through several skeletons at once.
“… can’t … hold them … back … anymore!”
Charity gulped.
“At least I die by YOUR side.”
Herald glanced at her, a tear in his eye.
Before Charity knew what had happened, the paladin had lifted her toward the dhampir.
Helpless, Charity watched him disappear under a flood of animated bones.
“Herald! No!”
Then, she heard Pike’s voice boom.
“ADVENTURERS ASSEMBLE!”
Charity looked at the doors and saw a giant fireball flying in the mass of skeletons blocking her escape.

JF Danskin’s “A Drabble Challenge for Authors” challenge inspired my drabble short story “Searching for Charity.” This instalment got some additional inspiration from JF’s mood-related writing prompts:
Write a single scene or dialogue in which one person struggles to express how deeply in love they feel. Do they get there in the end?
💯 Story Challenge (61/100)
