Summary

In a fantasy adventure story, the character Charity is confronted by Viper, who reminisces about their violent past and contemplates correcting a previous non-lethal stabbing, only to be interrupted by Pike, leading to a tense moment.

Abstract

The narrative "Backstabbing" is part of a serialized fantasy story titled "Searching for Charity №25." It centers around a group of adventurers, including Charity and Viper, who are examining treasure when Viper quietly threatens Charity, reminding her of a past incident where Viper had stabbed her, mistaking her for a thief. Despite the initial violence, Viper reveals a change of heart, having fallen in love with Charity. The tension escalates as a dagger is pressed to Charity's neck, but the moment is disrupted by the arrival of Pike, prompting Viper to jest about not feeling charitable. The story is inspired by a writing challenge and incorporates elements from other authors' prompts, aiming to explore the transformation of enmity into friendship through dramatic events.

Opinions

  • The author suggests that past actions can have significant and unforeseen impacts on relationships, as seen in Viper's transition from attempted murder to professed love.
  • The story implies that humor and shared experiences, such as the adventurers' quest for treasure, can bridge gaps between characters with a contentious history.
  • The narrative hints at the complexity of human emotions and the thin line between love and hate, as Viper's initial hostility turns into affection.
  • The inclusion of other authors' prompts indicates a collaborative and interactive approach to storytelling, with the author drawing inspiration from the broader writing community.
  • The mention of the "100 Story Challenge" and invitations to subscribe or join Medium suggest that the author values reader engagement and is committed to producing a substantial body of work.

“I got the Dagger of Daxion!” Charity shouted.

“Do you remember how we met?”

Charity flinched. Viper’s voice was only a whisper, tickling Charity’s neck.

“You stabbed me because you thought I’ll take your share.”

“I didn’t kill you.”

Charity chuckled.

“Luckily, you missed.”

“I didn’t. I fell in love for the first time, but too late to stop myself.”

“Those were fun ….”

Charity felt a dagger pressing against the side of her neck.

“I’ll correct that mistake.”

“Hey! What’s going on?!” Pike’s voice filled the chamber.

Viper turned around with Charity.

“I’m just not in a charitable mood!”
