Dungeon Delights
Searching for Charity №3 —Meanwhile, in a dark dungeon, it is time for delicious tarts…

This is a continuing story. Find previous instalments here.
The massive brute grabbed a cherry tart, making a big show chewing with delight.
“Ooooh! This is soooo gooood!”
The woman bound to a chair had beautiful golden eyes, but her expression was bleak.
“Please, I’m hungry!”
“Tell me what I want to know, and you eat.”
She started sobbing in response.
“Cut the act. I’m not buying it.”
He waved a tart in front of her before eating it.
“Delicious! Did you know ….”
When he started choking, Charity stood up, bonds falling off her like old leaves in autumn.
“… that the cherry tart was poisoned, hon? Sure.”

Thanks to JF Danskin’s “A Drabble Challenge for Authors” challenge, I’m totally into drabbles again. :)
This led to the idea to publish a short story in drabble installments. This is part 3 of “Searching for Charity” based on JF Danskin’s food-related writing prompts.
Write a flash fiction or drabble which begins and ends with reference to a foodstuff, for example a sandwich that sits untouched, a coffee that goes cold, or an apple pie that disappears during a conversation.
Read part one here.
