Results Of Writing Challenge With A Twist
37 articles in 38 days!
Not long ago (38 days to be exact) I made the pledge to have 100 articles published by the end of March.
I started on 22nd February, giving me 38 days to write and publish 37 articles.
Quick recap of the goals and rules I set myself:
- By the end of March I will have 100 stories published on Medium. That gives me 38 days to publish 37 stories…..
- For the most part I will be focusing on my new publication on Content Marketing and Writing for Small Biz.
- Reestablish connections on Medium. I took a break from EVERYTHING for a while, and unfortunately that means I neglected this beautiful community.
- Find my writing mojo again!
I was worried I would lose motivation, as has happened in other challenges before. Probably because I bit off more than I could chew.
But this time it was different. As I watched the published story count creep up it kept me inspired and motivated to keep going. I wanted to reach 100 published stories so bad, so every time I saw the number increase I had another spurt of energy and inspiration!
And because I know everyone LOVES to read stats and income reports, here they are.
Stats from 22nd Feb:
- Income: $1.32
- Followers: 370
- Total Published Stories: 63
Stats at 31st March:
- Income: $3.73 (not quite enough to cover the cost of Medium let alone that coffee…but I won’t give up!)
- Followers: 435 (massive increase!)
- Total Published Stories: 103
So did I do it?
Drum roll please….
Heck YES! I actually published 40 stories this month! I am so damn proud. 40 stories in 38 days is pretty amazing.

So what comes next?
I am focusing on consistency and engagement on Medium.
I would love to publish 5 stories per week until I have 200 published stories on Medium. However, I need to be realistic! I don’t want the quality of my stories to suffer by putting that pressure on myself. I have writing clients, nursing shifts and a family to balance too.
What about you? What is next for you on Medium?

Rachel Maree is a writer, mum and registered nurse. Bringing you the real truth to parenting, nursing and writing (even when it is downright ugly). You can learn more or hire her to write amazing content for you — Rachel Maree.
