Bullet points
The online marketplace is crowded and noisy, making it challenging for small businesses to stand out.
Content marketing is essential for small businesses to develop a unique brand and messaging.
Menulog is an example of a company that stands out due to its unique style, voice, and advertising.
Businesses should find their unique selling point and communicate it through their content.
Completing the sentence "You should choose me because..." can help clarify a business's unique selling point.
Today’s online and marketing spaces are busy and loud. So how, as a small business, do you stand out?
Amongst all that noise, how can you be sure that you are reaching the right people to grow your biz?
The answer, of course, is content marketing! More specifically the part of content marketing that is about developing your unique brand.
I want you to think beyond your business name, colours and logo though. As important as those things are, they are just part of what makes you stand out.
Take Menulog for example. You can easily recognise their branding colours and logo. But what truly makes them stand out?
Their messaging. Their unique style. Their “voice”.
Their online advertising (have you seen the songs…catchy!)
Psst..totally not an affiliate of Menulog or anything, I just love their marketing. And their service!
Now, I am not saying you have to head out and create music videos to make your small biz stand out.
What I am saying is by focusing on your voice and messaging, by finding your point of difference, you will create a brand that stands out.
Developing your unique selling point.
OK, so picture this. Two shops, side-by-side, selling the exact same thing. What would make you choose one over the other?
Is it that one offers a two-for-one deal?
Does one offer personalisation of their product?
What makes one stand out over the other for you?
For MenuLog…it is their celebrities, catchy tunes and songs about food!
Now apply this to your own small business.
If someone was looking between your small biz and another that is offering the same (or similar) product or service, what would you tell them to persuade them YOU are the person to buy from?
Finish this sentence.
To help you clarify this message, complete this sentence:
“You should choose me because….”
It could be:
“……I offer personalisation of all products in my store.”
“……my X years of experience mean you will receive the best products and/or service.”
“…..my unique experiences with X mean Y”
“……every item is hand-crafted and unique.”
And the list goes on!
So, have you got your answer?
That is your super power right there!
It provides you with a unique selling point and will help craft a brand that will stand out from the crowd.
Now communicate that in your content. Create reels, TikToks, social media posts and blogs capturing that unique difference and expanding upon it.
Get your message out there and show the world WHY they should choose your small biz!
So drop into the comments and let me know:
“You should choose me because…..”
