Quick Lunchbox Hacks For Time Poor Parents

Delicious and nutritious lunchboxes in a jiffy.

No mum has the time (or energy) to spend hours each week making lunches.

I certainly don’t. Here are 3 lunchbox hacks for quick, easy and painless weekdays!

Hack 1: Once a term cook-ups.

Before each school term begins do a big cook-up of freezable lunches. This is one of my BIGGEST time savers during the busy school weeks. Here are a few recipes I make:

  • Corn fritters
  • Sausage rolls
  • Pizza scrolls
  • Cheesemite scrolls
  • Mini-pizzas
  • Muffins (savoury and sweet)
  • Choc-zucchini brownies
  • Slices
  • Zucchini slice.

Grab them out of the freezer and throw them in a lunchbox the evening before for a quick and easy lunch or snack.

Hack 2: Cut up vegetables for the week.

Every Sunday evening I cut up a heap of vegetables and store them in glass containers with a damp paper towel covering them so they last the week.

  • Celery
  • Red and green capsicum
  • Carrots
  • Snow peas
  • Cucumber
  • Beans

Throw them into a lunchbox with some dip for a filling, healthy snack.

I also cut up fruit such as watermelon and cantaloupe at the beginning of the week. It is so quick and easy to just scoop it out into their lunchboxes!

Hack 3: Lunch Box planner!

Every Sunday I sit down with our dinner meal plan and a notepad for lunchbox planning.

If we are eating a meal during the week that has pasta or rice I use that for lunches the next day.

For example, if we are having curry with rice we cook extra rice for lunches. We stir through tuna and corn, or other combinations for an easy and delicious lunch!

It is so much quicker when I know exactly what to put into their lunchboxes each day.

There you have it, 3 quick delicious and nutritious hacks for lunchboxes! They make a world of difference to our weeks. I hope they do the same for you.
