What Swingers Really Think About Threesomes

The good, the bad, and the messy

You may assume that swingers are experts in the art of the threesome — they are swingers after all — and every time they play with their multiple partners, they’re swinging off the chandelier and having a good old orgasmic time. And to a large degree, they are. But back in May, when I did a survey of swingers, which was coordinated for me by the app 3Fun, for National Masturbation Month, I also touched on the subject of their threesome experiences and was surprised by some of the responses they gave. The following is what swingers really think about threesomes — the good, the bad, and the messy.

The Good

As you can imagine, for the most part, swingers did enjoy their threesome experiences and were generally eager to keep that in their sexual repertoire. Here is some of what they told me.

· “Amazing, attempting to do it again.”

· “Really kinky.”

· “Beautiful, comfortable, bonding, and satisfying.”

· “Fanfuckingtastic!”

· “It was amazing!”

· “Exhilarating after a bit of fear from something new.”

· “Great and can’t wait for the next opportunity.”

· “Amazing…to be all entwined, hands stroking, caressing, penetrating.”

· “The best part of my sex life is incorporating new partners to try…variety!”

· “Everyone kissing everywhere, and taking turns watching. Toys were involved, but no solo masturbation.”

· “Very exciting and usually better erections and bigger orgasms, more willingness from all involved to explore and try me and different things.”

· “I love threesomes, especially when the attention is all on me.”

· “Amazing to say the least.”

Although for the most part, swingers reported having a great time during their threesomes, it doesn’t always end up being the perfect picture of sexual pleasure. In some cases, they reported experiences that were somewhat uncomfortable or downright bad. Here is what they had to say about them.

· “Awkward, but super sexy.”

· “Mostly boring, people don’t chill.”

· “Never brought a plus-one into a relationship. I’ve arranged some with friends, but it’s never been great. Usually someone is kind of uncomfortable for one reason or another.”

· “Wonderful and awkward.”

· “Sometimes not too good, sometimes very good.”

· “I once joined a couple. The guy was watching me and his girlfriend. I was so nervous!”

· “Not so great.”

· “Mixed experiences. Some good. Some bad. You have to be able to laugh.”

· “Some have been good, and we’ve had some strange experiences as well.”

· “Weird at first, but turned very hot.”

· “Exciting, scary, dreamlike. Not sure.”

· “Really nice for me and my partner, but a bit challenging for the third party.”

· “A little overwhelming.”

· “Mediocre.”

· “Sometimes awkward or a bit stiff, but generally very positive and warm, and very sexy.”

· “It was not as I expected; I thought it would feel better.”

· “Nerve-racking and sexy.”

· “Scary, but satisfying.”

· “It’s different. Not better or worse than just one-on-one intimacy.”

· “The first time, I was a bit nervous and it was not the best experience for everyone. Other times, it started slow, but ended up being good times.”

· “Both bad and great. Depends on the partners.”

· “It’s always exciting! People are a bit nervous at first, but everyone always seems to warm up within five minutes.”

· “Exhilarating, but can be awkward at first.”

The Messy

In some cases, the swingers’ experiences with threesomes were not just lackluster, they were downright bad. Here is what they told me about it.

· “Great sex, shitty relationships.”

· “Never had a threesome; the only chance I had was ruined by a party being shut down.”

· “Amazing in most cases, but we have run into a male having erectile difficulty.”

· “Some great, like the best nights of my life. Then some with no clue about pleasing two people.”

· “The last threesome was lame.”

· “One girl became very jealous and left.”

· “It was hot until they displayed trepidation.”

· “It wasn’t what I thought it was going to be. I wanted it to be more interactive.”

· “Usually terrible, but occasionally you find the right person and threesomes become magical.”
