Why & What is a Dream Log

An ex-girlfriend of mine once observed “you have epic dreams” this was in reference to a category of dreams I had in which I was not a character, in which there were stories that sometimes took years and were narrated.

In Illuminati Ganga there are numerous advanced dreamers, whose dreams go beyond the confines of what is normally supposed to be seen and experienced in dreams. This does not mean that every dream amongst the agents of Illuminati Ganga is worth mentioning, but there are a number of them that are of more interest than what we might think of as normal dreams.

Therefore we will start publishing our dreams as they come, any dreams that are of especial interest.

Categories of Dreams

In order to better track the dreams of Illuminati Ganga we will categorize potential dreams:

Categories

1. Narrated dreams — a voice can be heard to narrate things that are happening, things that will happen, the internal states of other characters in the dream.
2. Personal — the dreamer is in the dream
3. Impersonal — the dreamer is not in the dream
4. Long term — dreams that in the time of the dream take significant periods of time, weeks months years.
5. Recurrent — the dream is repeated multiple times and is usually the same with small variations.
6. Continuing — a dream that takes up a story from a previous dream
7. Narrative — has a story.
8. Characters — has characters in it known from outside the dream, but not people the dreamer knows. Characters can be actors or celebrities or famous dead people.
9. Energetic: got adrenalin flowing, probably scary but also fighting etc.
10. Controlled — a dream in which the dreamer realizes they are dreaming and can do things to the dream to control its flow.
11. Stylized — the point of a stylized dream seems mainly to be the graphical elements of the dream, for example a dream in which one reads a magazine or a cartoon dream. Things are abstracted and not much happens, but what happens does so with a very definable and apparent style.
12. Delineation of a product / idea — this dream most likely has the minimum of narrative but just shows the workings of a product or discusses an idea and the implications of it

An Initiatory Dream

It hardly seems reasonable to say we are starting a Dream Log and then not start, so here is a dream that has been submitted to the Log. More to come.

The Eurovision movie — The Story Of Fire Saga

This dream was a documentary of the making of the “Eurovision: THE STORY OF FIRE SAGA” movie, the thing is I’ve never seen the movie. I did see the beginning of it once, Pierce Brosnan thought his kid was a dork and was unhappy about that, as he thought his kid should be a real cool Pierce Brosnan type of guy.

Other than that the only thing I know about the movie is that someone in it says “The elves have gone too far”, which, to be fair, is a thing elves are prone to do. According to the documentary they say this because the elves have killed off or maimed in various amusing ways the other possible Icelandic contenders for Eurovision. But I don’t actually know if this is why they say it in the movie, just in the dreamed of documentary of the movie. If you know why they say this in the movie please comment, we’re busy and not sure when we will have time to see the movie.

Other than that the only thing that I remember about the documentary is the discussion about the end of the movie, which I’m pretty sure is also not how it actually ends, in the dream the movie ends with a giant alien who was the major big bad of the movie crashing into an Icelandic church and dying due to something our heroes did — not sure what — the notable thing was that parts of the aliens tentacles were made with some sort of pudding that was chewy? and a photogenic 2 year old blond Icelandic baby chewing on a tentacle was the end shot of the movie.

I guess it’s nice to see practical effects still in use, even if it is only in dreamed documentaries of movies that probably did not need a big special effects budget.

Will Ferrel in an interview (in the dreamed documentary) was laughing while reminiscing about this scene and saying “You had to keep telling yourself in your head it’s only pudding it’s only pudding!”

Aside from not seeing the movie I also haven’t eaten pudding in years.
