You will understand Tus when you are ready

This dream starts off with my first day of work at an unnamed company that involves a lot of data entry it seems.

The working area is one extremely big room, towards the ends of the room are some hallways that run off into small offices.

There are hundreds of people working in the room and you can hear the click clack of their keyboards all the time.

There are a few small tables to get coffee, a lot more tables to get supplies / papers to fill out.

There are signs around the room that I take it are supposed to be morale boosting, but are generally boring and or cryptic — a lot use the word Tus and slogans can be something like Understanding Tus means being Tus

The signs are white, black font, Helvetica. No cheery little animal pictures anywhere.

I am sort of given a guide, mentor, coworker to teach me stuff. He was a pretty hands off guy. He was an older black guy, skinny glasses, sort of like the guy from Soul but of course real, not animated. Well not real, since he was a character in a dream which is sort of like a step up from pure cgi but not much.

Anyway I spent most of the time doing this sort of data entry I don’t understand.

This was another long term dream, seemed to last weeks, but the dream never showed my home life or anything. It was all spent at work. I left to go home and everything but nothing else.

In this way it was a lot like Severance, but maybe Severance like it would be in real life, without all the fancy proto-70s design or little perks.

The dream was mainly little boring vignettes in the workday with a feeling of dread to it, so like Severance in this way as well.

I had to go to another part of the floor to work (another division) for some days. And then back to my regular section.

Then I had to fill out some paperwork about what I had done over the week and then I wrote section 14 in one (which was the other section) I had worked in but this was bureaucratically wrong and it should still be in my normal section but the forms filled were section 14 forms.

I got a long discussion from my mentor about this. During this there were a couple other coworkers attending, one a girl that looked sort of like Julia from Brideshead Revisited (TV Show in the 80s) and another one I don’t remember much about.

Then I asked what Tus meant, and nobody could describe it. It was like they had a mental block when they tried to describe it.

The other lady said we would find answers to the purpose of the company in the hallways and small offices so when we went home we doubled back and snuck back in to go through the offices.

Then the dream restarted with us coming in the morning to go to work.

The other lady was not there that day. We called up the company to ask where she was (calling like we were from outside) and the secretary that answered told us sorry — that person hasn’t worked here for 5 years.

This caused Julia to have a breakdown about what is Tus.

I was of course concerned, because since we don’t know the time in between coming in to work and leaving, how long have actually worked. It only felt like some weeks — maybe 3? But what if there were breaks of years in between. What if there had been a 5 year break between ‘yesterday’ and ‘today’ and why couldn’t we remember exactly what it was we discovered in the hallways and small offices the night before.

All interesting stuff that would go unanswered because waking up rescued me from the dystopic world of the dream.
