Pandemic Action Thriller Bringing up Kids mishmash

Categories: 3,4,7,9

Remember category 7 is “Narrative — has a story.” — well, as far as category 7 — narrative goes — this dream was a mess.

It was during some sort of science fictiony pandemic in which people died from advanced flu like symptoms, it might have been because I recently binged Anna

In the dream the pandemic had something to do with blood because the protagonist, played by Sarah Paulson had the disease but was keeping herself alive by going out capturing non-infected people and taking some of their blood — not that often just often enough to establish this was something she was doing and this was a super badass apocalyptic world she was living in.

I think the dream was also trying to do some sort of ironic reversal of the vampire trope like the original I am Legend — The Omega Man

The production values of this was very much TV movie from before LOST, definitely not blockbuster level. She had two kids, they weren’t the two kids from the Italian pandemic show Anna but they were close, the boy was very similar. I only remember two things about them, the boy dances around crazily one time in a suburban home of the mother’s friend, and the girl lets a man who turns out to be her father/mother’s ex out of a trap — more about that in a bit.

Anyway the messiness of the dream was that it was not fully committed to the postapocalyptic nature of its story, the world did seem to have fallen enough apart that there was nobody stopping her from going out and capturing people and taking samples of their blood, but things for a lot of people seemed to be going on pretty much like a slightly degraded version of normal life, for example the kid dancing in suburban home thing, this suburban home was very close to the devastated wasteland bunker where the mother lives, the bunker is atop a large hill / small mountain and the woman who lives in the suburban house goes up to visit that family through an elevator.

It’s pretty weird that there is a family living post-apocalypse and others living normal, in one way, but actually I guess you can find extremely weird preppers and religious extremists in bunkers all over the place, so perhaps the dream was misleading me. Maybe the mother is just a conspiracy freak going out and stealing people’s blood because she thinks this is the cure for Corona? She’s decided to get holed up in her bunker with her kids and the suburbanite friend is helping keep her crazy friend hidden — in which case, watch out suburbanite friend she will totally turn on you and take your blood.

Towards the end of the dream the protagonist catches a man in a trap by the suburban house, who turns out to be played by a Kill Bill era David Carradine, being appropriately badass.

As it turns out badass David Carradine is the father of the children! We learn this when the girl, interested in who this interloper can be lets him out of the trap, then somehow him and the mother make up, she tells him she has the disease but has been going out to get blood, that this is the cure, he is interested you’re close to a cure! Yes, blah blah blah. He says he had heard about the woman going out and trapping people and taking their blood and had realized it had to be her, and come on, he can’t fault her because he would have done the same thing (said with David Carradine badass growl)

I think these people really have bought all in on this conspiracy theory world they’re living in, inside my dreams.

Then I got woken up.

In the case of unusual dreams I give this one 1 star out of 5, basically it was such an illogical and hackneyed mess I would have preferred some normal dream where I showed up at work in my underwear. If this dream was a movie I would think it was made by Netflix for a demographic that did not include me.

But at the same time the lack of cohesion of the dream did give it a feeling of mindfuckery so that was sort of cool. In light of that here is some skeletons and a dead body, or maybe somebody dreaming!
