Freeing a Character

This dream was very short, but sending it in because of the weirdness.

It involves two characters, one is an anime style girl and one is a Shogun/Samurai type figure. They were not very well delineated, anime girl feels not exactly correct and Shogun Samurai also, they felt maybe more like approximations of Japanese styles from outside Japan, like maybe somebody in Avatar, the last Airbender.

The Samurai has prepared for the girl a bowl of fruit mush that seems like it is made from currants and gooseberries. She is very grateful for this because it will set her free.

At some point in the dream I realize that she is a character created by the Samurai but when a creator makes their creation this currants and gooseberries dish it will set them free and give them their own reality not dependent on the creator. So setting her free means free from her creator’s control, but also it seems from the dream free to exist in the real world.

They are in an open style Japanese house, the landscape outside rolling hills and blue skies, although the sky also has some things one would normally not expect to see in a sky — like floating doors. Perhaps this is the Japan of Miyazaki

It definitely has the right shade of blue.

So then she eats the berries and exclaims — I feel something, I feel something happening, oh it hurts.

And then comes the big twist as the creator exclaims — Hah, It’s poison, I poisoned you. Did you think I would ever let you go!? You’re mine!!

Then she dies. After she dies the world starts to disintegrate and unravel. And the creator exclaims I better get out of here! He runs for an oval door at the back of the room they were in which has a bunch of intricate carvings on it, the walls are disappearing around the door but the door itself seems solid he gets to it and starts to open it but then I woke up.

Unfortunately I have a severely injured shoulder right now so I’m waking whenever the dream gets a little anxious, probably because I move and then I feel pain.

After this I dozed off and had some minor dreamlets that seemed to be on the same subject but I don’t recollect as strongly

The only category I would really give this dream is 3 — impersonal — I am not found as a character in the dream. In a way this dream could also be

11. Stylized — the point of a stylized dream seems mainly to be the graphical elements of the dream, for example a dream in which one reads a magazine or a cartoon dream. Things are abstracted and not much happens, but what happens does so with a very definable and apparent style

12. Delineation of a product / idea — this dream most likely has the minimum of narrative but just shows the workings of a product or discusses an idea and the implications of it

in the list of properties that dreams have, but I think it might just be that it seems that way because of how extremely short the dream was.
