Summarize

Another School of Magic

I had a series of dreams and I woke up during the last one so I remember that one best. I am not exactly sure if every dream in the series happened in the same night but I remember them as progressing one after the other.

A series of interconnected dreams

How can it be that I am not sure if I had every dream in the same night, well when I woke in the last one I remembered my dream but I also remembered the other dreams, the same way when you meet someone and are formally introduced to them at a party you might remember having seen them years before at another party.

So I was slightly off-put realizing that this dream was a continuation of another dream that I was not sure was one I had weeks or years before, or just earlier that night.

In essence they were like episodes of a show, but the previous episodes were only hazily remembered. I knew the plot well enough that I didn’t need to go back and re-see the show, but not well enough I could tell you just when I had dreamed the other episodes.

But I remembered during the dream the other episodes as well, and my dreaming mind experienced a higher consciousness of the narrative it was viewing to critique it.

The main cast of the dream was about 8 teenagers

The cast was mainly drawn from across the Asian continent, in fact it seemed more like it someone had written Harry Potter but steeped in the Ramayana and Monkey: Journey to the West

With a healthy side order of Wazir of Oz

The Last Dream

This is the dream I remember best — the previous dream sequence had created a problem that one of the magicians will be kicked out of school

The Dream wasn’t the Magicians show, but on the other hand it is a very Magicians plot point, someone getting investigated to get expelled.

(this problem shows up quite often) so a teacher is investigating the issue but as she is investigating an inimical presence makes itself felt.

She is an augur of some sort so as she is mentally focusing she is pointing into the blackness of the candlelit room her eyes grow wide and she is attacked by this presence (there isn’t any combat but it is unnerving her eyes grow wide and black and she is evidently being magically overpowered by this malign force) then she dies.

An Augur of some masculine sort here

Because of this the student is not thrown out because it is necessary for them to go to the academy at the South Pole and investigate who is trying to prevent the student from remaining in the school.

They all get on their various modes of transportation — giant owls, crows etc. and take off. Whooping and hollering as they are eager to take on whatever forces are against them.

There was however a foreshadowing of sorrow, looking at them bravely flying off to face the unknown. As if my dreaming mind had a narrative in mind where some of them did not make it through.

One of the students, not the one in trouble stays behind for a couple minutes talk with parents,

It turns out the father when he was younger had not wanted him to go to magic school but mother talked him into it which was big revelation because student for some reason always thought it was the opposite.

The father was played by Jackie Chan, I remember my dreaming mind was like hey, it’s Jackie Chan — I had not idea he was in this.

I realize that Jackie Chan has some political issues but evidently my dreaming mind is not as socially conscious as it could be. Shame that.
