Rocket Leagues Cover Car Was Added to Fortnite
Gaming News

Fortnite's latest v22.10 update introduced the Rocket Leagues cover car, the Octane, to the game.
Since Epic Games acquired Psyonix (the developers of Rocket League) back in 2019, it makes this cross-over an in-house collaboration between two games owned by Epic Games.
Earlier today, I launched Fortnite just to try out the Octane in-game, and to be honest, I was very surprised. I assumed it was just going to be a drivable vehicle that behaved just like an ordinary car. I was very wrong.
Fortnite's version of the Octane behaved almost exactly as it does in Rocket League. I was able to boost, jump, double jump, use my boost to fly, drive on walls, flip, and surprisingly even wave dash, which is a mechanic in which you flip into the ground to cancel your flip.
This update even introduced boost pads to top up your boost on the Octane.
Epic Games also announced an island design contest in which players must create custom maps to “use the vehicle to its fullest potential.”
They’re encouraging players to use “the Octane in a fun, engaging way.” in a custom map. Epic also stated that their favorite maps would be featured in a special Discover row in November 2022.
Players will have the freedom to use the rocket boost device as well as various props, such as banners and statues, which are featured in Rocket League arenas. If you would like to view the guidelines for this contest, click here for more information.
