Summary

A new raid game mode is announced for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, promising a challenging cooperative experience similar to Destiny's raids, set to release after the start of Season 1 on November 16th.

Abstract

The gaming community is buzzing with the announcement of a new raid game mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, introduced during the Call of Duty Next Livestream on Twitch. This mode will require strategic teamwork and puzzle-solving skills alongside intense combat, catering to a cooperative playstyle. Although the specifics of the raids are yet to be fully disclosed, the gaming world anticipates that this addition could steer Call of Duty towards an MMO-shooter genre, drawing parallels with Destiny's successful raid format. The success of the mode hinges on whether it will be accessible to all players or require a pre-made group for completion. The new mode is scheduled to launch after the commencement of Modern Warfare II's Season 1 on November 16th, and more details are expected to emerge in the coming weeks.

Opinions

  • The author suggests that while the new raid mode is intriguing, it may not reach the same level of acclaim as Destiny's raids due to Call of Duty's different gameplay style.
  • There is optimism about the potential for Call of Duty to evolve into a genre that incorporates MMO elements, as seen with the successful integration of the Battle Royale mode in Warzone.
  • The author expresses concern that the raid mode might be too challenging for random groups, which could lead to its underperformance if it requires exceptional coordination that is typically found in pre-made teams.
  • The author is hopeful that if developers can balance the difficulty to allow for successful completion with random teammates, the new raid game mode could be a significant success for Call of Duty.
  • The author invites feedback and participation in the Illumination Gaming publication and other related initiatives on Medium, indicating a community-focused approach to gaming journalism.

A New Raid Game Mode Will In Modern Warfare II

If this game mode can only be completed with a pre-made group to exceptional coordination, then these raids could potentially flop.

I have some interesting gaming news today. I enjoy reading and writing about new developments in the gaming world.

The new raids mode was announced during the Call of Duty Next Livestream on Twitch. This will be a multiplayer game mode with PvE elements to it, similar to Destiny’s raid game modes.

It will be “a three-player cooperative engagement requiring teamwork and strategic, puzzle-solving thinking in-between bouts of intense combat.”

This new game mode will be available after the MWIIs season 1 starts on the 16th of November.

We don’t have too much information on raids as of yet, but in the coming weeks, we can expect some details to arise, hopefully.

Of course, we can’t expect this new raid game mode to be as good as Destiny’s raid game mode since CoD is not an MMO-style FPS.

But this is an interesting sign that CoD could be heading in a unique direction with its military FPS.

Evidence of this is their Warzone game mode. Before Warzone, CoD was only known for its regular FPS game modes.

But after many people took an interest in Battle Royale games, CoD introduced their contribution in the Battle Royale genre.

This proved to work out very well since CoD is now also known for its Battle Royale game mode.

What I’m getting at is that the addition of raids could potentially drive CoD into an MMO shooter genre, kind of like Destiny.

We don’t know if this new raid game mode is going to be exactly what we expect.

CoD could potentially nail this game mode, but it may or may not be completely accessible by all players.

What I mean is raids are usually known to be a tough challenge that requires a lot of communication between players to complete adequately.

If this game mode can only be completed with a pre-made group to exceptional coordination, then these raids could potentially flop.

But if the devs figure out a way to have players adequately play through the entire raid with random group members, this new addition could potentially be an absolute slam dunk.

There is still a bunch of Modern Warfare II related news to be covered, so keep an eye out since I will be covering a few more aspects revealed in the recent live stream.

Until then, have a good one, and thank you for reading.
