The PlayStation 5 Was Apparently Jailbroken
Gaming News

Almost two years after its release, the PlayStation 5 has been jailbroken, sort of.
The current state of the PlayStation 5 jailbreak
A modder named Lance McDonald spotted the jailbreak and created a post on his Twitter page showcasing how the software will allow users to access the PS5’s debug menu.
McDonald also managed to run Bloodborne at 60 fps on his PS5, presumably by using this exploit.
Although it wasn't playable, McDonald managed to install the delisted PT demo using this software.
Unfortunately, though, the current jailbreak is very limited and apparently can fail up to 70% of the time.
PS5s with the firmware version 4.03 from October 2021 and earlier are the only versions that can be exploited, according to the creator. In its current state, it won't be useful to an average user but may be appealing to hackers or anyone who just wants to see how everything works.
Even though the current jailbreak isn’t really worth installing, it opens up the doors to a potential fully functioning jailbreak down the line, which can be usable by the average gamer.
What is the point of jailbreaking your console?
There are a few aspects to jailbreaking your console that many people like myself do not condone, such as cheating in online games or pirating games and media.
But there are a few interesting things jailbreaking a gaming console can give you access to.
The first thing is the ability to customize the user interface of your console. This can include the layout of the home screen, different color pallets, additional QOL widgets, etc.
Jailbreaking also enables users to emulate games from other consoles straight from your PlayStation. You can emulate games from Nintendo, Xbox, and potentially even PC.
You can even potentially install the Linux operating system onto your PlayStation, allowing you to do anything a Linux PC can do on your PlayStation.
The only type of cheating gamers condone would be cheating for single players games. Jailbreaking can allow you to install cheats and fps patches to your games to either improve your gameplay experience or allow you to just mess around and have fun.
⚠️Disclaimer⚠️
Before jailbreaking your console, please make sure to familiarise yourself with potential consequences.
Jailbreaking is against Sony’s and other console developers' terms of use.
If you decide to jailbreak your console, it will most likely void your warranty, prevent online access, or could potentially get you banned from games or even from the console's online services.
Just make sure to do your research and don’t do anything you’re not sure of.
