Overwatch 2 Is Finally Live, But There Are A Few Issues.
While writing this piece, I am waiting in the queue with 20,000 players ahead of me.

Overwatch 2 just launched yesterday, and I was really excited to finally download it and play with all my friends. But there was an issue.
This could be seen as a blessing and a curse since the game was so popular at launch that players needed to be placed into a queue so that the servers won't get overpopulated.
While writing this piece, I am waiting in the queue with 20,000 players ahead of me. When I launched the game a little earlier, there were around 40,000 players ahead of me in the queue.
Needless to say, with this many players in the queue, the waiting times are kind of ridiculous. At the time of writing this post, I’ve been waiting for about 30 minutes and probably have another 30 to go.
Understandably, these queue times were too much for a few of my friends, who just ended up either hopping off or playing another game.
Additionally, the game servers received a few DDoS (distributed denial-of-service) attacks shortly after launch, which caused many drop/connection issues. Unfortunately, it’s still unknown who was pushing these attacks or what their motive was.
The Overwatch 2 game director Aaron Keller stated they’re “steadily making progress on server issues and stability — We’re all hands on deck and will continue to work throughout the night. Thank you for your patience — we’ll share more info as it becomes available.”
To make matters worse, some players have issues with certain unlocks, such as skins not appearing and players unable to access the Waypoint pack.
Currently, there is no information on when these issues will be resolved, but the BlizzardCS Twitter account is actively providing updates as they come in.
I sincerely hope these issues get resolved as soon as possible since I have been looking forward to this game for a while and hope none of my friends get turned off from playing.
