Illumination Integrated Publications are growing rapidly. Now more than 13,700 writers contribute to this illuminating publication on Medium and beyond. We created a new publication called Illumination on YouTube. This publication aims to create a bridge between YouTubers and Medium writers using our YouTube channel and seven prominent publications. Many YouTubers are also bloggers, and we believe that Medium is an excellent platform for them to tap into a new audience. You can find the details in the attached invitation post.

Dear Writers, Bloggers, and YouTubers,
In this short video, I will introduce Dr Arlo Hennings, who is a top writer and senior editor of Illumination Integrated publications on Medium. Dr Hennings has been contributing to our publications as a writer for a while and recently joined our editorial team to support writers and readers. We are grateful for his generous service.
Dr Hennings has PhD in ethnomusicology. He earned a Master’s degree in Fine Arts specializing in Creative Writing. He also has a Bachelor of Arts Degree, a Personal Care Assistant, and an English as a Second Language teaching qualification.
Interestingly in the 1970s, Dr Hennings dropped out of high school. He dodged the Vietnam War draft. In addition, he hitchhiked across America. He’s traveled to Woodstock and joined the first Rainbow Festival. He met exciting events like Ken Kesey’s Merry Pranksters, Hunter Thompson and leaders of the RED movement, Dennis Mean,s and Russell Banks.
He entered the music industry at a young age. He got his first job working in the music business in a dance hall. That experience led to a 50-year career in the music business. He worked as a musician and as a recording studio engineer for many years. For example, he worked as a record company executive, music publisher, music distributor, and venue owner. He became a manager of A&M recording artist Shawn Phillips for 18 years. During his music tours, he even met Nelson Mandela.
Dr Hennings is also a poet and an artist. He published a poetry book and a double album and screenplay. He recorded in his band Vitamin Q for five years. He compressed his hardscrabble, dharma bum, rock n’ roll life. And in 2016 put it into a memoir called “Guitarlo.” He spent four decades as an artist.
Unfortunately, the American Great Recession wiped him out financially around 2010. He wanted to reinvent himself. So, the journey led him to a new life in Bali, Indonesia. He currently lives there.
Dr Hennings became a mentor for Indonesian musicians and a consultant to the Indonesian music business as a cultural ambassador. He published his new book “Bali: Life on the Ring of Fire” on Illumination Book Chapters in January 2022.
In addition to Medium, Dr Hennings write for NewsBreak and Vocal Media. He teaches English as a second language in Indonesia and works as a South East Asia booking agent, Australian Podcast host, and Indonesian community supporter.
