My First Article on Medium

This is my first day on this platform and I am excited.

Introduction

Hello writers, readers, and editors,

My name is Aiden. I live, study, and work in Australia.

This is my first day on Medium. I am excited, nervous, and happy to join this platform today. Please wish me good luck.

As invited by Dr Mehmet Yildiz, I joined Medium today. I feel like it is my first day in primary school. My stomach is full of butterflies as I pen this story.

Medium might be a new school for my personal and professional development. I can see the growth potential.

A few months ago, I met Dr Yildiz upon a referral from one of my lecturers at the university where I study Media, Design, and Filmmaking.

My earnest aspiration is to become a world-class blogger and storyteller in my niche. Media is my passion as it connects us at different levels globally.

Keeping this value in mind, I plan to write informative articles about my projects and connect with readers. I want to teach while learning and improving my skills.

My lecturer mentioned Medium could be a platform to start blogging and learning about storytelling with a community spirit.

I blogged on a few other platforms, but the interaction was not at the desired level. I had no idea whether people read my blogs and got any value out of them.

When I heard about the “cross-pollinating” concept of Dr. Yildiz mingling all levels of writers with diversity and inclusion, I got hooked. That is exactly what I need and aim for.

I want to learn from the craft of skilled writers with meaningful engagement with them. I believe giving is more important than receiving for me.

Dr. Yildiz introduced me to Medium and his seven publications. He kindly volunteered to mentor me to become a blogger and writer.

As a token of his mentorship and generosity, I offered him to coordinate his YouTube channel aiming to support more than 17,000 writers contributing to his publications on Medium.

During my media studies, I learned a lot about creating documentaries for my clients. My media and design skills can be valuable for YouTube.

My new volunteer role is to coordinate the Illumination YouTube channel and prepare videos introducing writers and their work to a broader audience.

Dr. Yildiz shared his vision of reaching out to millions of viewers in a few years. This vision excited me and gave me a purpose to contribute to this meaningful venture.

I posted a few introductory videos. Let me briefly introduce them to you.

The First Video

The Second Video

My second video is about Quality Checklist for Writers, Bloggers, and Editors. ILLUMINATION featured this video in an article on Medium.

I studied this helpful checklist prepared by Dr. Yildiz. This article taught me a lot about expectations from stories on Medium. It might take me a while to practice all these points, but I am keen to learn.

Here is the video turning this checklist into a tutorial. I hope many new writers like me will appreciate the content of this video.

The Third Video

My third video introduces Shashi Sastry and his recent book Philosophy Life Instinct, a writer on ILLUMINATION as documented in this story.

My time with work and studies is limited. But I committed to allocate 8 to 10 hours per week to contribute to the growth of the Illumination YouTube channel. While preparing these videos, I believe my skills will improve.

I also expect to meet many writers and readers. As Dr Yildiz informs me, collaboration is essential for success and happiness.

Once I improve my writing, I plan to join Illumination as a volunteer editor. Hopefully, joining this writing challenge will help me make good progress.

In addition, I am excited about short-form stories as they don’t require much time. I plan to record videos and share them with a few words. This 1,000 posts in 100 days sound very interesting to me. Not sure I can make it, though.
