Dear writers, bloggers, and readers,
In this video, I introduce Karen Madej, a senior and consulting editor of Illumination Integrated Publications on Medium. She also edits for the Frugal Friday publication.
Karen is a prolific writer on multiple platforms, including Medium and NewsBreak. She gained top writer status in Sustainability and Climate Change topics on Medium. In addition, she writes a lot about the planet and its inhabitants.
As a qualified project manager, she worked with engineers, product managers, and helpdesk staff to deliver multiple products and services to millions of Internet customers from 2000 to 2006 in British Telecom. Her Business and Finance qualification, studied at Oxford College of Further Education and sponsored by BT, boosted her promotion chances.
Nowadays, Karen favors a quiet life in Scotland. She thinks she has not found the desired success on Medium yet. However, some of her articles on NewsBreak created a sensation with millions of views. She gained thousands of followers.
Karen joined Medium in 2019. She met and collaborated with Dr Mehmet Yildiz. When Dr Yildiz established Illumination, Karen was one of the first writers and editors to join the publication. She helped Dr Yildiz build the community with her inspiring stories and featuring works of writers.
Karen is a lifelong learner. She completed a course offered by Sinem Günel in May 2021. It is called Medium Writing Academy. She learned how to analyze her stories and adjust them to gain further visibility.
Her corporate salary helped her buy a lot of stuff, but material objects never made her happy. So she asks: why should we bother making more as long as we have enough money to live on?
In the early days of Illumination, Karen invested a lot of time reviewing and publishing many stories. She also created a Weekly Wisdom series featuring stories of other writers. She did this for Technology Hits as well. She inspired many writers. Therefore, our contributing writers and readers see Karen as a source of inspiration on Medium.
Currently, Karen is at crossroads planning to take time off to make tough decisions about her writing objectives. She also plans to build a house in 2022.
