Summary

A writer embarks on a 90-day writing challenge to overcome procrastination and establish a daily writing habit, aiming to publish an article every day from September 20 to December 19, 2021.

Abstract

The author of the web content, who self-identifies as a chronic procrastinator, has initiated a personal challenge to write and publish an article daily for 90 days. This challenge, which commenced on September 20, 2021, and is set to conclude on December 19, 2021, is an endeavor to combat the author's procrastination and to solidify writing as a consistent part of their life. The author's goal is to write on diverse topics, transcend comfort zones, and learn from the experience, regardless of the articles' reception or financial success. The challenge is also inspired by the author's previous success in writing 30 articles in a row and is grounded in research suggesting it takes an average of 66 days to form a new habit. The author acknowledges the difficulty of the task but views it as a stimulating game that will enhance writing productivity.

I’m Taking Up a 90-Day Writing Challenge

If you are a terrible procrastinator like me, you can do it too.

Unlike you, I procrastinate a lot. I mean A LOT.

Though I have published more than 200 articles in my one year on this platform, I am — in reality — a terrible procrastinator and a lazy writer. Yes! That’s the god honest truth.

I have so many writing ideas in my head, and most of the time, I failed to put them on the blank canvas of this digital space due to procrastination.

So, my ideas get old and sometimes face an untimely death. But enough is enough! Now, I want to challenge myself with this 90-day writing challenge to see how it goes.

Why a 90-Day Challenge?

Well, I have already written and published 30 articles (29 actually!) in a row. That means, in a way, I completed a 30-day writing challenge. Now, I think a 90-day challenge is a more appropriate one to chase.

Moreover, I want to form a habit of writing and publishing every day. So, I think if I can continue writing for 90 days straight, it will become a part of my everyday life.

In case, if you are wondering — according to this article on Psychology Today, it takes anywhere from 18 to 254 days to form a new habit and an average of 66 days for a new behavior to become automatic.

This Is What I’m Going to Do

What I am going to do is comparatively simple. I am going to write and publish every single day for 90 days. I know it’s tough, and that’s why I am aiming for it. I intend to destroy my terrible habit of procrastination and form a wonderful writing habit.

Start Date: September 20, 2021 End Date: December 19, 2021

In short, my mission is to —

  • write and publish one article a day.
  • write on different topics (breaking my comfort zones)

That’s it. It doesn’t matter whether I earn much money or not, I want to give it a go. And if no one reads my article, that’s okay too. I just want to beat my old (lazy) self.

Is this a good idea to focus on publishing every day?

You can kill me with the quality and quantity debate, but I think it’s a great idea to write and publish every day. At least, for me, because it will be like a challenging game and eventually increase my writing productivity.

I hope I will learn many things along the way — about myself and writing.

It will be tough, no doubt. But isn’t writing always a tough job? And I believe that it’s always a good idea to challenge yourself than getting stuck in a statuesque.

Let’s see what happens!
