My Best Writings So Far

I think these are my most beautiful articles on Medium.

I have been writing on this platform for around one year, and I still enjoy writing and publishing here. This is, I think, a rare case for me because I am (like many of you) a very distracted person who always fails to do things on a regular basis.

I tried many a time to follow a routine or continue something (exercise, dieting, etc.) regularly but failed every time. Somehow, writing on this platform becomes an exception. I started writing on Medium a year ago, and here I am — still writing and publishing. Well, I should pat on my back!!

Anyway, in this one year on this lovely platform, I’ve published more than 200 stories and also read thousands of excellent articles written by fellow writers. Surely, my knowledge increased, and my happiness enhanced. And many more things happened as well. I left my job and have become a full-time writer along the way.

But wait! Don’t start thinking that I earn a lot of money by writing. Because I don’t. I am a kind of lazy person with zero ambition and fewer responsibilities. So, I don’t push myself hard enough for anything. Yes, I know it’s not good at all, and I need to change this in the coming days.

Anyway!, I’ve already talked too much about unnecessary things. So, if you are still with me, let’s explore some of my self-proclaimed best writings from my 200 articles on Medium. And, I will share with you the backstory as well.

Let’s get started!

1 . The School of Nature

I wrote this piece based on one of my visits to the outskirt of Dhaka. I went to Dhamrai with one of my friends for birdwatching and, after a full day of birdwatching, came back with a content heart. Nature healed my soul. In this piece, I experimented with storytelling (which I do quite often) and finally loved the output. Not to mention, readers loved this too.

2. If Aristotle Were a Medium Writer

Hahahaha! I think this satirical piece is the funniest article of mine. The idea came out of nowhere. I was irritated to see more and more listicles and absurd articles floating on each and every Medium-publication (they still do). Surprisingly, these cheap articles were the ones that got the most views, whereas well-researched, thoughtful writings were struggling to meet their readers. So, in response to that, I wrote the article thinking what would happen if Aristotle were a Medium writer in this twenty-first century.

3. How Cold is Coldplay?

My friend Felipe Xavier loved this one. It is about the healing power of Coldplay’s incredible music. I am a great fan of Coldplay, so I thought it would be great to add all my favorite Coldplay songs in one article. Finally, I wrote this. I believe any Coldplay lover will enjoy this piece. Oh, another thing — Felipe made a podcast on this article and you can listen to that from here.

4. How I Unfollowed My Father and Learned Things Differently

If you ask me whether I like my father or not, the answer will be both yes and no. Why? Because there are many things I don’t like about my father. He is a very loving father, but sorry, I don’t want to be like him. I always wanted to be a different man than my father. So, I unfollowed him and started doing things differently. This story is intense and I hope many of you can relate to this.

5. The Unusual Meditations (You Never Heard Of)

I was thinking about mediation and wanting to write something about it. So, I came up with this article. I bet these unusual mediations will force you to think differently and help you for sure. Don’t believe me? Why not read the article and let me know your thoughts! These unusual meditations helped me a lot; I am confident that they will help you too.

6. Five Subtle Signs That You’re an Insanely Smart Person

Am I a smart person? Well, I think so. But if you compare me with the cool dudes you find on social media, then I am not. I have my own definition of smartness, and this article is exactly about that. One afternoon, I was thinking about this issue, and then I came up with this article. Believe it or not — I finished writing this article in one sitting. I wrote like a madman and when I was done I felt very happy. It’s was an exciting experience indeed.

7. Why I Quit My Job While Others Were Busy Saving Theirs

Quitting my job was not easy. I used to work at the top English daily in my country, but a few things were hampering my happiness. So, during the pandemic, when everyone was trying hard to save their job, I quit mine. And interestingly, I resigned from the job on my birthday. Not money but happiness matters in the end, isn’t it?

8. Do Frogs Cross the Roads for Sex?

Have you ever seen dead frogs on the road? One evening, while walking, I saw some frogs desperately trying to cross a busy road. So, I asked myself, why are they so desperate to cross the road? What’s the reason behind it? Where do they want to go? Then, a few days later, while searching for an idea to write an article, this event hit me, and I wrote this piece. I wrote it differently than most of my articles. I am sure this article will touch your heart.

9. How Visiting My Native Village after 10 Years Changed My Idea of Happiness

It’s true. Visiting my native village after ten long years changed my understanding of happiness. Surprisingly, I found that less wealth brings more happiness. Though we always work hard to earn money, thinking that money and wealth will vanish away all our problems and make us happier, it’s not true all the time. In many cases, it does the opposite. I found that community bonding, physical activity, sports, a healthy diet, and a stress-free mind make one happier than tons of money, wealth, or fame. Well, I can be wrong, of course. Let me know what you think!

10. Who Is This Fu*king Crazy Man Named Mr. Mamun?

Well, well, well! This article is all about me. If you don’t know me, now you know. This is another fun article, and I laughed out loud while writing it. I was trying to find a different method for writing an ‘about me’ article, and finally, I discovered this. This article (and the photos I used here) will put a smile on your face — that I can guarantee.

Are you still with me? Oh, that’s so sweet of you!

Thank you for reading about my self-proclaimed best articles. I hope you enjoyed this post and the ten stories I mentioned here.

Goodbye for now. We will definitely meet again!
