THE DAILY CUPPA WALKABOUT #5
Herbs & Healthy Food Around Your World
Enjoy this eclectic gathering of 150-word stories about herbs and plants and the quest for healthy meals from diverse perspectives.
‘Tis the season of gathering with family and friends for many around our world. Some of us are isolated at home again this year. I grieve for those who must remain separated from family and friends. We did not ask for this situation, but we are in it — together, well, ordinary folks are in it together.
We’re also together in our search for health through the foods we eat and the meals we prepare. As we celebrate with family, we pass down recipes and traditions.
We’re fortunate, in these times, to be able to share our knowledge and uses of herbs and recipes from friends around our world. Our Daily Cuppa Walkabout is about such sharing.
In The Three Principles of Korean Cusine, Nancy Blackman reminds us that food brings us together.
Nature and Time: Most of what is included in its cuisine are from nature, and food brings people together to reconnect. Nancy Blackman
Haley Creighton wrote a delightful tribute to Christmas traditions which invokes memories for many of us. In this story, she captured my heart as I remembered the gatherings I used to have in my home.
It feels like the warm fuzz that spreads from my heart, out over my limbs at the sight of strings of white Christmas lights draped over the trees. Haley Creighton
Please enjoy these stories dedicated to the search for health and appreciation of plants, recipes, and traditions around our earth.

Lifestyles
My bias is that what we eat is an important indicator of health. However, like most things, it’s more complicated than that. Our lifestyle choices play a huge role in our health.
For me, it’s not that there is one way or one thing. It’s that we select from all that is available for us, as many health-giving practices as we are able. Thus, we include lifestyle stories.

Jennifer Essary’s story was a delight to find. This is the first story of hers I read and you can guess — yes, I followed her.
I found the most intriguing article on honeybees written by Steve Fendt. I’m fortunate to help out on my friend’s farm where they have honey bees. Steve’s story grabbed my interest and filled my head with information.

Nutrient-dense whole food from plants — from grapefruit, asparagus, spinach, turmeric to blueberries — can be a problem if you’re eating processed foods and taking prescription medications. It may take your body a while to get used to any diet changes. Always consult with your physician or a qualified health care provider before making any lifestyle or dietary changes.
