Your Most Cherished Relationship
Dancing Elephants Press February Relationship Prompt

By adulthood, we have all experienced a multitude of relationships, some better than others. Each teaches us important lessons. I still remember my first best friend. I met Wendy in a grocery cart in an IGA at the ripe age of two years old. Our mothers were friends, of course. Wendy was the dominant friend. She had to measure each stick of gum we split for fairness. But my god, I love that girl to this day. No matter how much time passes, we can pick up like it was yesterday.
“True friends aren’t the ones who make your problems disappear. They are the ones who won’t disappear when you are facing problems.” ~ Author Unknown
Some relationships are brutal. I have had my fair share of heartbreaking romantic relationships. But I am stronger and wiser as a result.
And then, there are my grandparents and parents, who instilled so incredibly much wisdom in me. I am unsure who I credit the most, but I ponder the question often. So, today, I turn the question over to you.
February is undoubtedly the month of love. But let’s change how we look at that. It doesn’t necessarily need to be about Cupid or romantic love. It can be about appreciation of your most cherished relationship. To whom would that award go? Love comes from many sources.
February Prompt:
What is your most cherished relationship? It may be a grandparent, a parent, a mentor, a best friend, the love of your life, a newfound comfort with yourself, a fur baby, or something completely different. Please share.
I look forward to hearing your unique responses. Feel free to share more than one. This can be in letter format, poem, fiction, or non-fiction. Let your creativity flow and your heart open.
