Here’s Why I Believe in Metaphorical Angels
I explain how they touched my heart, mind, and soul in the most challenging times at the crossroads.

I met many angels in my life. These unique souls appeared in human forms at different times, from childhood to my current age. They helped me achieve my particular goals, soothe my unbearable pain, uplift my spirit in loneliness, and keep me living purposefully.
My long-time motto is “Life is life; the rest is the meaning we add to it.” We add different meanings to objects, situations, relationships, and people. However, I also know that reality plays a significant role in our mental health and well-being.
There are no such things as angels, according to current scientific studies. They only exist based on belief systems. As I define my own spirituality, I also define angels based on my life experience, scientific knowledge, and insights gained from wise people.
Science does not necessarily include knowledge obtained through data. There are also experiential studies systemically observed in rigorous ways.
For example, a few decades ago, we did not know about the validity of meditation even though Buddhist monks had experienced it for centuries. We understood this phenomenon only after MRI technology allowed us to see the inside of the brain.
An angel is believed to be a spiritual being acting as a messenger of the creator. In some beliefs, they are represented in human form with wings. Frankly, their look has never been of interest to me. Instead, I care about the spiritual characteristics in my psyche and the impact they make in my life.
Different people might have various definitions of angels. However, my definition of an angel is someone who enters our lives when we need exceptional support for the difficult problems we face, especially at crossroads. Their support is selfless. From my experience, they appeared in my life when I was desperate for a solution to an incapacitating problem.
The universe operates in randomness and uncertainty, as depicted in fractals. After studying synchronicity, parapsychology, cognition, and quantum physics with passion, my perspectives on life and the cosmos changed significantly. Synchronicity is the occurrence of meaningful coincidences believed to have no known causes. The unity in diversity is another phenomenon in sociology.
For many years, my knowledge came from only scientific studies based on statistical data. However, those studies hardly addressed my thirst for knowledge.
Therefore, I focused more on experimental and experiential studies. Understanding consciousness has always been of interest to me. I am still curious to find answers to whether consciousness survives when the brain dies.
Phenomenological studies provided me with better perspectives on life. People underestimate the value of anecdotes, but they might bring valuable perspectives if they are consumed appropriately. By using anecdotes, especially in meaningful conversations, I gained substantial knowledge about my issues.
There was a specific issue related to nutrition that bothered me for many years. I consumed a myriad of published scientific papers, books, and industry publications. The more I read, the more I was confused. And my situation got worse.
One day I found a community discussing the healing power of specific food. I was highly skeptical in the beginning. There was no scientific basis for those discussions, but some community members came from a scientific background, such as medical doctors. The anecdote I read exactly described my debilitating issues.
What a coincidence it was. With an open mind, I read those anecdotes again and decided to experiment with this non-traditional diet regime, which was only experienced in a few esoteric cultures like Inuits, Chukotkas, Masais, Samburus, Gauchos, and Sioux tribes.
Within a few weeks, I experienced remarkable results. Then, I came across many more anecdotes similar to my situation. There was hardly any scientific basis for the claims, but they made sense and worked for me. Unfortunately, the scientific content about my prior diet regimes got me into more trouble and worsened my condition.
I respect science and scientists who do their best to make sense of this complex world and life with relentless investigations. However, our knowledge gained through scientific investigations is still a drop in the ocean. We so far use only a single human capability, which is called intellect. However, our greatness comes from understanding and accepting how little we know.
There are many more capabilities of humans that science has not discovered yet. Yogic philosophy in Indian culture introduced at least four capabilities called Buddhi, Manas, Ahankara, and Chitta. Western cultures only survive using the Manas (Intellect) capability.
There is strong resistance against unknowns even though 99.9% of life is unknown. For example, despite years of studies in parapsychology, some modern resources deny its existence, and they call it pseudoscience. But credible resources such as Cambridge University Press highlighted the importance of psychic energies.
Nicola Tesla created remarkable insights about energy systems in the universe. Unfortunately, we are still behind his understanding after so many years. I use his profound statement to make sense of the universe: “If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency, and vibration.”
Let me get back to the point of angels. When I found those anecdotes, I felt that an angel helped me find those precious artifacts when I needed them the most. So, even though the Internet is considered a virtual world with connotations of poor content, it is also a treasure trove.
I read many scientific papers about intuition, gut feeling, the sixth sense, and the inner voice. We cannot explain these concepts concretely with data and with analytic reasoning, but they are natural feelings for humans. They are part of our survival and well-being systems. Intuition and logic can be integrated to thrive.
Intuition is the capability to understand a situation without analytic reasoning. Intuitions come from the unconscious mind, which we know very little about. We cannot deny the unconscious because most of our bodily activities happen unconsciously. Our unconscious mind runs our biology.
Lucid dreams gave me remarkable insights into my psyche, as mentioned in a recent story about the departure of a dear friend. In fact, I believe that Janine was an angel in my life as she appeared at a time when I needed her wisdom deeply.
Certain people in my life depicted angelic properties. They did not have wings or auras around their head, but they had golden hearts, sharp intellects, and insightful visions, which were noticeable in our interactions.
Evidently, they helped me experience a deep feeling of love, affection, empathy, and compassion. In hindsight, and according to my intuition, Mr. Wise was an angel in my life who taught me to achieve more with less effort, and so was Benoit Mandelbrot, who showed me ways how the universe operates.
After I met beautiful souls like Janine, Benoit, and Wise, who departed this physical world with a legacy, I nowadays see angels surrounding me every day.
