This Is How My First Month as an Erotica Writer Went

On August 4th I published my first erotic short story. My expectations were exceeded.

My earnings

With seven short stories and a compilation, I earned 71,86 € in my first month. My goal was 50 €.

I achieved this income with a total of 38 sales. This does not include Kindle Unlimited income, as this amount will not be known until mid-September when the quotas will be announced.

Since August 4th, 8848 pages have been read through Kindle Unlimited. If I take last month’s quota for the German Kindle Store as a basis, I calculate KU income of € 23.88.

So if all goes well, my erotic short stories in August will have earned me at least €95.

A book bundle makes all the difference

On August 29th, I put together my first six short stories into a bundle. I set the bundle price at €3.99, while each individual volume still costs €2.99.

I have sold the bundle six times since then. But the bundle has been most successful at Kindle Unlimited. Since it went online, my daily page reads have multiplied.

You can see how successful this bundle is from the bestseller ranking. This morning the title was ranked 15th among all erotic novels and stories in the German Kindle Store. All other books before had only made it into the top 200. For a newcomer like me, this is an entirely unexpected success that makes me very happy.

The current day

Since I have now translated all six volumes of my first series into English and the success of my German BUndle surprised me so positively, I have now published the bundle in English as well.

I assume that the book will be available on Amazon this evening. I will certainly not be able to repeat the success from the German store because the English-speaking market is much more challenging to conquer. The competition is greater, and the level of professionalism is more demanding.

Nevertheless, I hope that the BUndle can give me at least a small boost in the English-speaking market.

Also, today I have published volume two of my second series. This book will hopefully be released in the course of the day as well.

But that was not enough today. The cover for my next thriller has been finished so that I could release the book for pre-order today.

With this, I have made a total of three releases on Amazon today. This article will then become publication number four on that day.
